Miller Moss...

Every year is about building for the future, but if we don't go all in on the defense, our future will be no different than this season.

We've recruited well on defense for a couple of seasons. If we don't do what needs to be done, than we can all count on being ****ed off until the lunatic fans run Mario put of here.

Not to mention we are at 10 wins now.

Defense has to be a priority.

I don’t see much point in going all in just to win 8-9 games. I think next year team will be worse. Defense will be better but offense will be much worse.

That's true for most teams that hire coaches with 4 yr contracts.Mario got a 10 yr deal here,he can underachieve the next 3 to 4 yrs with no worry.
He’s different. Mario is at a school that won’t pay a huge buyout. Plus he’s protected because of his financial backing and being a former player. He could go 0-12 next year and it wouldn’t matter. The excuses and narratives would be flowing after the last game. That said you don’t talk rebuild in year four , that’s insanity. That means he’s not developing anyone.

“If Ryan Day can’t get anything out of McCord, then no one will.”

“If Lincoln Riley can’t get anything out of Moss, then no one will.”
I'm at a point outside of Tate Martell that if OSU dumps a QB you should probably go get them because they recruit the position great and suck at choosing a starter.

can do a lot worse than miller moss ngl. I like Him for though, don’t know much about his mobility though

In terms of last year for perspective, he seems like better than Will Rogers. He's solid and can play good. Wouldn't be the top pick though.

Id prefer Moss over Mendoza all day.

Instead of vaguely saying you'd take a guy or not, rank the available options.

For me

Mateer
Moss
Salter
Castellanos
I would probably agree, Nuss would be above Mateer for me. But Mateer would provide a dynamic multiple running game.

I agree with you Nuss>Moss.

I just don't see Nuss as a realistic option. He waited 3 years on the bench at LSU. Then he played and had a good season that I believe ranks him top 3, at worst top 5 qb in the draft when the process is complete.

So we need him to transfer out of lsu, and bypass the draft.

Don't see it happening.

Where would you have Mendoza from Cal?

I'm guessing there is a market for betting on it otherwise they wouldn't waste the time on betting odds but if you are betting on where a college football player transfer to you probably have a gambling issue.

The one positive with Mendoza is he’s a big kid and still somewhat young. Two years of eligibility left. He’s also never been surrounded by the talent he’d have here. Plus he’d be a layup since he’s from here. That said Mateer is the first guy and by a mile .
I don’t know if it’s the “Miami thing” or just because it would require Miami passing up on what I feel are better QB options, but I just wouldn’t feel good with Mendoza.

I will admit, however, that he’s developing in a positive direction and better talent would help him. He’s obviously a very smart kid and I don’t know, something about him does give me Brock Purdy vibes/potential.

His trajectory, improvement, measurables, intangibles, etc and the fact that if Mario is dead set on him being the QB, that is what is going to happen. He would be a “stop gap” in terms of finding a new QB every year but again, that means Mendoza has developed better than anyone you have recruited, which again, is ******* concerning.

Thoughts, Cribby?

@Memnon - I think you have said hard pass on him but not sure.

Why are people thinking Emory is a given when there’s such a little body of work? Started as a true freshman and beat Clemson in 2023, but didn’t do much in the game himself. Had a bad game at Florida State and unfortunately broke his arm. Haven’t seen him since except mop up time against Ball State. We will see Emory start the bowl game. Who knows? Maybe he’ll be our ‘Steve Walsh following Vinny Testaverde’.

I’m not concerned Moss was benched, he’s clearly scapegoated by Riley. I am not concerned the alleged quarterback whisperer couldn’t get the best of Moss. USC is a mess from top to bottom and that on Riley.

I would not be disappointed if there was mutual interest.

There will not be another Cam in this seasons portal. My concern about Moss is he has one year of starting experience and I would like to get a quarterback with more experience, especially if the quarterback has only one year eligibility.
