Miller Moss...

I don’t know if it’s the “Miami thing” or just because it would require Miami passing up on what I feel are better QB options, but I just wouldn’t feel good with Mendoza.

I will admit, however, that he’s developing in a positive direction and better talent would help him. He’s obviously a very smart kid and I don’t know, something about him does give me Brock Purdy vibes/potential.

His trajectory, improvement, measurables, intangibles, etc and the fact that if Mario is dead set on him being the QB, that is what is going to happen. He would be a “stop gap” in terms of finding a new QB every year but again, that means Mendoza has developed better than anyone you have recruited, which again, is ******* concerning.

Thoughts, Cribby?

@Memnon - I think you have said hard pass on him but not sure.
I think He would be a D or F option. Mateer , Jackson Arnold and non P4 kid are guys I’d expect to get attention. The non p4 kid would be intriguing. Then Mendoza.

Sorry for not keeping up but which non P4 kid? Liberty QB?

As mentioned he was benched, hence he lost the starting job.

Threw 7 picks in his last 5 starts, in which he lost 4 of those. 2 of those teams were Washington and Maryland. Also lost to Michigan, where he threw another pick and lost a fumble.

Lastly he just quit on his team, the same team that he supposedly waited in line for behind Caleb Williams.

In other words, as soon as it got hot for him, he floundered and ultimately got his ***** *** out of the kitchen.
Why someone gets benched is important context. He got benched because he was running for his life on almost every passing down due to a FCS level OL. So they put in the running QB

Ward is totally different than Moss and you know that.

I disagree with you on Moss. He faltered against every halfway decent team he played. And more importantly he lost his job.

At least with Emory you know for a fact you're getting a gamer that's not afraid of pressure. I honestly cannot say the same about Moss.
Kind of unfair to claim a QB is bad under pressure when his line collapsed on him almost every passing play

His replacement struggled to have success and the OC was fired mid-year1, sounds like a systematic problem more than a Jackson Arnold problem

Had me until Mendoza. Looked good against us. Not so much in others games I watched. Just sayin’

I don't think Mendoza is hitting the portal. The Cal coach said he wasn't yesterday and I think Mendoza also said he wasn't.

Why are people thinking Emory is a given when there’s such a little body of work? Started as a true freshman and beat Clemson in 2023, but didn’t do much in the game himself. Had a bad game at Florida State and unfortunately broke his arm. Haven’t seen him since except mop up time against Ball State. We will see Emory start the bowl game. Who knows? Maybe he’ll be our ‘Steve Walsh following Vinny Testaverde’.

I’m not concerned Moss was benched, he’s clearly scapegoated by Riley. I am not concerned the alleged quarterback whisperer couldn’t get the best of Moss. USC is a mess from top to bottom and that on Riley.

I would not be disappointed if there was mutual interest.

There will not be another Cam in this seasons portal. My concern about Moss is he has one year of starting experience and I would like to get a quarterback with more experience, especially if the quarterback has only one year eligibility.
Emory is gettting the sentimental vote of confidence because he put it on the line vs fsu and broke his arm. Tough kid but this ain’t about no feelings

Only my opinion, but I would think Mateer (if he's leaving) is heading to Chokelahoma. I think his OC or QB coach has already been hired there. I think that's why Venables hired the dude...so he could get Mateer if he leaves. Just my .02

I mean that’s been the rumored plan for a few weeks now

It's a fair assumption and very well could play out that way. But, Arbuckle didn't recruit Mateer. He wasn't there when Mateer signed with Wazzu. I don't know if there's as longstanding and tight a relationship there as people assume.

And regardless of bringing a QB, he's been a fast rising name that has put out some explosive offenses for several years now dating back to WKU. He was looking at a high level P4 job regardless.

That’s the rumor but playing devils advocate there’s been lots of kids that the plan was to follow the OC or coach Money talks . I’d have to question his decision making going to that mess. Dead man walking coach.

Miller Moss would be a great pick up. He isnt the right fit for Riley system and USC has some really big issue going on. He took a lot of blame for the offense woes that wasn’t exactly his fault.

His line was not great, but why did he walk on his team when season isnt over. Dude, waited it out behind Williams, only to get benched, and then bounce.

Sorry, no take for me.
