Miami's Portal Class

247 just ran their final transfer rankings, and had Miami 10th. FSU 7th. Just laughable.

Yes I know its subjective, and yes I know its flawed.

Lil Mikey would walk to Coral Gables to exchange portal classes.
Norvell loaded up with transfers, and I don't mean he added studs, but he added volume.

I would imagine - I haven't looked at the rankings - that the ranking of 7th is due to the sheer number of bodies FSU brought in similar to the 2008 #1 recruiting class that had 33 kids: quantity over quality.

they've landed 2 more commits than us in the transfer. so correct.

I know Dmoney said we’re likely done with the portal, but these gentleman seem to be hinting at another addition?

That would all depend on where they both started, now wouldn't it?
They both inherited 7 win teams. Diaz inherited a team that was good on defense but terrible on offense and Mario inherited a team that was good in offense but terrible on defense. I don’t think there was a huge difference in overall talent between the 2019 and 2022 rosters.

Overall talent, probably not if you're looking at stars, but the defensive backfield that Manny left was horrible. Manny's first season, we went 6-7 with a bowl loss. 2020 was the Covid season, making a meaningful comparison to 2023 is difficult. We definitely overachieved that season and that's with being humiliated by Clemson and UNC.

The 2020 season and Diaz’s career was saved by Rhett Lashlee and D’Eriq King. Covid actually made the schedule much tougher as they only had one non conference opponent and Clemson wasn’t on the original schedule. That team likely would have won 10 games against the non covid schedule. Still there was very little ofensive talent outside of King and Brevin Jordan on that team. And by that time Manny’s bad recruiting had dragged down the talent on the defense. They really squeezed 15 wins out of the 2020/21 teams.

I know most think the ACC league sucks, but Mario's schedule in 2022 was much tougher than Diazs first year.

11 win Clemson team
10 win FSU team
9 win UNC
9 win Duke
9 win Pittsburgh

Manny

11 win Florida team
9 win UVA team

I’ll reply to both u & @Manfred_Cane

The reason why FSU’s transfer class is ranked higher than ours is b/c 59% of their 17 transfers received a 4* grade while 40% of our transfers received a 4* grade.

By total points it’s:
1. Ole Miss
2. Oregon
3. Bama
4. A&M
5. UF
6. Texas
7. FSU
8. CU
9. OSU
10. Us

If it went by avg./per it would be
1. OSU
2. UGA
3. Texas
4. Oregon
5. Bama
6. FSU
7. UF
8. Ole Miss
T-9. Us
T-9. Mizzou

I don’t usually comment too much about schedules until after the season, especially now that the portal is so active

We really have no idea what our SOS is gonna be but same time on paper right now 2024 looks pretty ripe

Are you implying the 2018 schedule was of same quality or just posting numbers?

I just posted the schedules for 2019-2020 vs. 2022-2023.

Do w/ it as u will. The fact is we played more sub .500 teams in 2022 than 2019. Also, at the very minimum we should’ve been a 7-5 team in 2022, not 5-7

The biggest difference between the 2019 and 2022 teams was the 2019 actually beat some decent teams and was generally competitive in their losses. The 2022 team didn’t beat a p5 team with a winning record. **** they only beat one P5 team with more than 3 wins. While getting smoked on the regular. Including Middle Tennessee and just getting ***** slapped by FSU. That 2022 team was the WORST Miami team in my lifetime. Al Golden’s teams would have ran a train on that team.

Futile is how I would describe the 2022 team

First season in my lifetime I actually stopped watching games

Say it louder for the folks in the back. This w/ Jarren Williams as QB, too, w/ a sprinkle of N’Kosi Perry. Like, what r we really talking about out here? Lol

Guess you weren't around for 1997. Obviously, we were hamstring by probation. Our best win was against 4-7 BC. Our OOC wins were against 2-9 Baylor and 2-9 Arkansas State. The 47-0 lost against FSU were Covington was murdered into the goalpost was a pretty low point. The conference was embarrassed in bowl games.

The fact we won 9 games in 1998 was quite remarkable. Kudos to Butch.
