Miami's DT recruits since Shannon's first year.

Jenkins was a 3 star. Hamilton has health issues. Lets be real if chick had a different last name, he is not a 5 star

No excuses UM has/had*

Chick - 5 star
*Grimble - 5 Star
Hamilton - 4 star
Mccord - 4 star
Muhammad - 4 star
Porter - NFL bound
Green - NFL (Practice squad maybe)
L Robinson -

Elder - 4 Star
Howard - 5 star
Bush - 4 star
Burns - 4 star
Carter - 4 star
Gunter - proven cover skills
Crawford - 4 star
Rogers - 4 star
Jenkins - 3 star (Proven)

Perryman - 4 star
Kirby - 4 star

I mean, how many more stars does he need to at least field a top 30 defense?

Got to have defensive tackles to win games. Like all of those great Miami teams of the past. They had great DTs. If not, teams just run right at you like they have been doing for years. You can have all the 5 star DBs but how are they going to stop the run with out a good line. 5 yard gains every time.

If a QB has all day to throw it how are all the DBs going to stop that. Sooner or later someone will be open and if not the QB can just run it. No tackles in 2010 where even recruited that made the team. That killed us and the next year only Grimble and a two star not even ranked. Grimble was a 5 star from Vegas. Not saying much since who did he play high school in Nevada? A bunch of little Mexicans? He was no better than the three stars from south Florida. DT recruiting has been a bust for years.

Problem is that you're assuming Pierre, Robinson, Porter, et al are terrible players just because they get terrible results. Your whole premise is flawed. Take Pierre for instance. He had a nice year last year and looked like a guy who was going to turn into a really good player. This year he's been a ghost. Porter was way better his 1st two years here in limited playing time than he is now. Guys are getting worse instead of improving.

Look at a guy like Luther Maddy at VT. We didn't recruit him out of Delray Beach, FL. He was only 2nd team Palm Beach County. Had we signed him you'd likely be lumping him with the other purported JAGs and calling him a low-level low star recruit. At VT, he's become a really good DT.

I agree. We all understand that we need more talent to compete with the big boys. But ****, do we have need 5 star talent to field a top 30 defense? Most fans are at least asking for a top 30 defense.

Why? Chick was a beast in HS, he was dominant in the All-Star game. He was a 4* at the very least.

I personally think he would look a lot different on the field and physically in a different system.

I understand your point and agree we should look a lot better then we do. Everyone knows the scheme is a huge problem. That said it doesn't help your point when you have Green and NFL listed next to his name.

Green is very dominant. He is a very good player. I would not be surprised at all if he is playing on Sunday. Has flawless technique.

i think we need SOME 4/5 star talent to field a top 30 defense, especially on the Dline...

2010 and 2011 DT classes were absolute killers.

So where 12 and 13. And UNLESS Golden adds more elite hs/juco 3-4 ends/DTS for this 14 class, **** will just be OK. And If Travonte Valentine has a core class issue or whatever and decommits the DT recruitment for this 14 class will suck **** to and be a fail on goldens part once again. Let's not DEFLECT now...... Stuckey just DECOMMITED. Right now UM currently has committed

Travonte Valentine-HOPE everything will be good with him as far as class credits go. ELITE talent
Anthony Moten-Great/Elite Talent
Courtel Jenkins-NOse Tackle, unless kid is an ABSOLOUTE FREAK athletically and PHYSICALLY probably won't make much of an impact at that spot his freshman year.
Michael Wyche-Juco. HOPEFULLY will be a monster and be able to contribute immediately and make a huge impact

That is only four guys .3 freshman and 1 Juco kid. For what UM needs, that's coming up short and is just OK as far as needs go. Golden HAS to pull at least 2-3 more monster 3-4 ends who are ready to contribute next year and make a significant impact.

how many of those guys start right now? you're missing the boat if you're listing the highly rated guys..you need to list our starters... the fact that we have 4 or 5 guys that are 4 star corners doesn't mean squat.. we only toss 2 of them out there at a time time.

I think Jenkins must redshirt. Not sure a jersey kid is ready to make an impact with the speed of the game

I'm laughing at "sanctions looming schools negative recruiting" - you really are being swindled by a conman.

So the sanctions only had a negative impact on the defensive tackle position, I guess.

People are looking for sympathy on Golden because he failed at bringing in more talent.

It wasn't a con. My friend coached David Williams an all American running back who liked Miami a lot but went to South Carolina because eye believed the Miami had already gotten a severe punishment and was hiding it for. Recruits. Basically every school except fsu negative recruited against us

And i love how all of a sudden Porter, Robinson and Pierre are complete JAGs. Nobody was calling them JAGs before this season.

i think we missed out on more than just DT's... I also think they had expectations of who was going to sign on the dotted line, that were not met come signing day. Granted, they could try to fill up with other DTs, but then we're taking guys that wouldn't necessarily be "Miami" guys in order to fill the roster..

They had an effect on every position, one name does stand out Bostwick. I believe he was not a fan of sanctions. I really think we missed out on some recruits and it was evident at that position too.

It's never an interesting season when we lack special defensive tackles. Upside is regulated, there will be inevitable games in which our vulnerabilities are brutally exposed, and there's no such thing as taking early indications and projecting improvement later in the season.

I mentioned a week or two ago that I watched the defensive tackles on every play during our heyday. This season after attending the Florida game I haven't looked at them on 5 plays. All you had to do was look at the Florida guys and ours were laughable in comparison.

Apparently we're having a nice recruiting season. That's great but you can't take everything at face value with kids of that age. We need twice the numbers and therefore some margin for error. We should be prioritizing defensive tackles like NFL teams these days stock up on defensive backs.

LOL wow you are stupid. The Chickillo name carries alot of name with recruiting sites. He is up there with Deon Sanders Jr, Ray Lewis III and Diddy's son who were 2-3 stars.

They were JAGs except Pierre. Porter turned into Vince Wilfork because he is big and he misses every game because he is hurt. **** Gionni Paul was a beast down here now according to poster when in reality he was below average. BTW I'm not a guy that called Al Golden "The Don".
