No defensive tackles, no defense and easy to see why teams are running down our throats. We have zero DTs.

That truly is pathetic. But still hardly an excuse for the 2 worst defenses in Miami history.

Shannon faced tougher opponents in his tenure here and was NEVER as bad as D'Onofrio's last 2 seasons statistically.

Shannon left without recruiting any DTs. I do not see any of them and it does take a couple of years for guys to bulk up

Any offensive line can push these guys around and make huge holes making an average RB look like an all pro and giving a QB all day to throw or run if he has to.
 
Pathetic list all around. But the fact that 4 kids brought in by the current staff left the program without giving a single contribution says a lot. Terrible misses in recruiting and just awful reaches afterwards. And that is not even mentioning what we may or may not get out of King and Moore.

Good news is they have done a better job this year. Just hope they won't be wasted playing in this joke of a scheme and lane duck DL coach.

That certainly explains why Puke ran for 350 on us and they weren't running for anything on anyone else.

Agree with the OP. I dont blame Golden for the 1st year. The Shannon transition year. I mean there isnt much a coach can do at the 11th hour, trying to scramble to find guys with a program in the dumps the way we were.

Golden has only really had 2 classes here. The DT recruiting last year was a real bust. There is no way around that. But we have brought in some talent at LB. Beamer was freaking P*ssed that we stole Blue. It wasnt exactly Golden's fault that EJ turned out to be a headcase who couldnt control himself. People are stupid for blaming Golden for that too. EJ made his own bed. Golden tried to keep the kid in school, kid was just a headcase. Figueroa also looks like he has a lot of potential. We've got a great crop of LBs committed right now.

I dont think people fully appreciate just how much the NCAA thing hurt us. Everyone wants to act like it was "no big deal" now becuase everything has to be about sh*tting on Golden over everything. But we had TWO bowl bans. When this story broke, you had several major media outlets talking about "Death Penalty". It is absolutely proven that we had coaches negatively recruiting against us over this. That uncertainty hurt us, especially when the competition for top recruits can be so tight and any little thing can create an advantage or a DISadvantage.

There is no question that defensive recruiting has been a disaster for years here. Shannon absolutely left this program bare. All you have to do is look at the upperclassmen we have here. As I said last week, Golden tried to go after FIVE JUCos and transfers in the off season last year. FIVE, just on defense. That is how bad our talent and depth is among upperclassmen.

That's no excuse for the attrocious defensive coaching, which requires immidiate changes, but as I have been saying for weeks now, our problems run deeper than just Mark Donofrio.
 
**** out of here with that neagative recruiting ****. I'm sure it was a issue but to a certain extent.

He is still going to have to deal with negative recruiting. You don't think fsu & uf telling d-tackles that jethro can't coach or d'onofrio scheme is ****?

Did they not have decent offers coming out of high school? Did they ALL not look better earlier in their career here?

Can't understate the impact of sanctions. I like the talent we have brought in these past 2 classes. 2012 has some home runs and a ton of misses when you really look at it. 2013 is small but very promising IMO.

2014 hopefully we can just close on our current commits and anything else is icing. I love this class but we look like **** so we will have to see who sticks around. You can only sell a rebuild for so long, especially with a lethargic fanbase, before people stop buying it.

No doubt, but Pierre was a Temple recruit, wasnt exactly a major recruit. Porter was a 2-3 star guy, not a major recruit. Chick was brought in as a 4-3 DE, not what he's being used for now. We do NOT have the personnel to run this system. Not by a long shot. But that's on the coaches too. AG made a big mistake trying to force this system into place so soon with the lack of talent, depth, and proper players for it. He doesnt have a LB coach that really knows this scheme either. And he has a sh8tty DC to boot. Recipie for disaster.
