We haven’t played a team with a winning record.
resistance at 10, but more likely to break through to 9.5 than go to 13.
My guess is it ends up around opener.
In reality, any legit team beats this Cal team by 17+. Especially after the excuses made for the VT performance (which is fine, even the best teams have a game like that).
They don’t have it multiple weeks in a row, however.
The line doesn’t surprise me at all. I saw it at -13 and knew immediately that was going to be to get bet down.
Factors at play:
- looong road trip. Even ignoring the jet lag debate, it’s just a long trip.
-Cal had a bye to rest/prepare
-We’re coming off an emotional, exhausting win
-Mario hasn’t exactly been amazing against Wilcox and Cal as a HC
-Cal has a very good defense, at least statistically, and is well coached on that side of the ball
- and we’re still likely missing our all-conference LT
I’m expecting a strong showing from Cal in the first half. In fact Cal + the points in the 1st half is probably the most tantalizing play here more than the under.
Agree with your point on this being a game where a big boy team responds and at least wins by multiple scores. Hopefully that’s what happens and we don’t find ourselves in a one possession game late in the 4th.
Something like 27-20 wouldn’t shock be but I’d also be a little disappointed.
