Miami is firing DC Lance Guidry

Until Mario proves he can hire a defensive staff worth a ****, I’m not going to assume anything.

I know some respected voices here might disagree, but it’s clear that whatever Mario is doing on that side of the ball isn’t working. We’re on the verge of hiring our 3rd defensive coordinator in four years, and yet again, it seems the majority of the position staff will be replaced. Our defensive recruiting has been underwhelming, and the lack of player development is becoming increasingly concerning.

He hires his staff like it’s a coaches fantasy draft. Maybe let the DC build his own **** staff smh. That way you don’t have schematic differences and disagreements. Have everyone on board and not clashing. Gattis and Ponce was another brilliant brain child of Mario. You want a competent , alpha in that room bring in a proven alpha and let him bring his own coaches. This guy make ‘s the simplest **** more difficult than it should be.

Harvey had 7.5 sacks 13 tackles for loss
Taylor is an nfl guy and producing
Chantz Williams 4 sacks 7 tackles for loss

80 plus tackles for mizzou 5 tackles for loss


Safety
kam kinchens(probably the best rookie db in the nfl)

James Williams (making tackles in the nfl on defense at linebacker)

Plus couch who is with addae with the bills on the practice squad and Jaden Davis with the cardinals


We lost alot of talent, **** we talk about the db losses but we underrated what we lost on the dline with hunte, Taylor and Harvey **** even at linebacker with Flagg.

We could have used a lot of that production fom the dline. Heck even flagg may have outproduced our current lb'ers.

On the surface it feels like we mis-evaluated on the defensive side of the ball - either that or we have better talent and our defensive coaches can't coach for sh*t. Probably a mix of both tbh... embarrassing from this coaching staff.

I don’t want to lose Jason Taylor or d nick both are good recruiters and whoever we bring in next needs to be able to recruit and coach I would love Will muschamp but I’m not sure he’d work with Mario.

Last year I think he was picking low hanging fruit and had a better secondary. It’s a mystery as to why there was such a collapse this year.

I might somewhat agree with this

Guidry was getting out coached badly but the season was basically cooked when the staff decided they didn’t need to attack the portal harder for dbs.

They decided to patch it up by moving guys around

And who has guidry landed in hs? Most of our dbs are kids who would probably come here no matter who the dc was

We recruited bad DBs under Addae and the portal ones are expensive, they went all in on the defensive line hoping it would’ve helped out a below average secondary.

The below-average secondary sucked and the supposedly good DL underperformed all year.

He was fired because the defense was atrocious and HE’S THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR!! Yes his recruiting was meh but if we had a top ten defense this year he’s the current DC.

Definitely an embarrassing list of departures, some scoffed at the lost of a lot of these guys but it reared its ugly head in a big way especially on the dline and at safety

While I agree with this, you have to admit it’s ironic that the communication in the secondary got worse when he brought in his own secondary coach.

Aside from all else that went wrong with Guidry this season, I am smelling a lack of connection with staff & players. There are plenty of signs, think this will all come out eventually. Also, I don’t think he really ever embraced 305, U, culture, always seemed like he “wasn’t here” if you will. In the end, staff and players quit on him because they saw it as well.

He can't utilize his full playback with his limited arm. And people can rave about him as a person but obviously that isn't the same as raving about his talent. Emory looked spooked in that bowl game, a mental block more so than anything related to Dawson. I just hope we find a competent qb vs someone Dawson has to fix. We saw with TVD a mentally broken mindset usually won't change.

We had two upperclassmen at safety who directed traffic. Which were huge losses.

the exception to this is should only be mirabal

I'm okay with everyone on defense leaving, even JT If the new DC wants it that way

but if Dawson leaves I think mirabal and Mario have proven that OL can adapt and mirabal should be a staple
