Miami is firing DC Lance Guidry

One thing not talked about....it was clear this change was needed halfway thru the season....waiting to the end of the year to make this change cost the team the playoffs and a bowl win.....let someone else on the staff call D plays and if you don't have anyone on staff to call D plays as a backup, that is a huge miss...

Also, not making this change probably cost us Pickett and other recruits..
I would have been fine with letting Jason Taylor call plays… he’s being linked to the DC job opportunity why not give him the chance to show his worth? I know it’s hindsight but it couldn’t have been much worse the rest of the season say after Cal or GT

It's also possible that virtually the entire defensive staff is gone and we'll go through this painstaking process of hiring coaches again.

I'm not being a **** here, but what's painstaking about it? We just sit back, wait, and see what he gets.

Who ever he gets, the usual will take place. People will talk the hire up like Guidry, maybe it's a big hire or so we think like the first guy, and then we'll see from there.

Guidry went from hero to zero in one season.

I hope for the best, but things will be as they will be.

A big name DC will not accept the gig without being able to bring in his own guys. I hope Meathead is smart enough to understand this but I have my doubts.

The analyst room on both sides of the ball need to be upgraded as well.
What coordinator gets to hire their own guys? It just doesn’t happen

May I ask what’s the affinity w/ Fitzgerald who’s a Midwestern guy, a **** poor recruiter, & never have been a DC in his life?

I get it, he was a helluva player in the 90’s, CFB HOFer, but I need ya’ll to convince me

For me Jeremy Pruitt would be the perfect choice but because of his baggage it won’t happen. It should happen but it won’t!
I'm at the point where I'd accept the dirtiest player in the game if they brought in a good unit.

We're hated anyway. Have them snort cocaine from their playsheet on the sideline as far as I'm concerned, just f'ing win.

This is a good point. I am guessing the hope is his HC experience and his defensive background will compensate for the lack of play-calling, but Mario can't F this up and take that chance, IMO.

Do you have a DC in mind? For me, it has to be someone who has proven to have P4 success.

#facts, a lot of people have been screaming this all year too. Hsing coaches accountable midyear is against Mario's bro code though.

Fitzgerald is being brought up because supposedly him and Mario are cool and it’s been said he has been on campus this year whatever that means

It would be an awful hire, but consistent with Mario’s ooga booga caveman style as fitz strikes me as being a guy cut from the same cloth.

Basically, he was a successful head coach

OK so elko wins 8-9 games at Duke and he's great? Northwestern is extremely hard to recruit at because its a borderline Ivy League institution.

I will just say, I’ve been told by a few folks that Jason Taylor is one of the laziest coaches on the staff, and it showed by the DL’s performance. If he is hired as DC we are Fing cooked
How is that possible? Mario insists on the grind and only interviews / hires coaches that posses the ability
