Fitzgerald is the former HC I hinted at awhile ago . He has some legal stuff that needs taken care of . He’s never called plays . It would be nice to get him off field until all that stuff is taken care of. Then find a spot.
I think that Fitzgerald has come to his senses.

Both his lawyer and the judge of his case strongly advised him to settle the case, since court won't open till late 2025.

About 25 years ago I was in a meeting with a Fortune 500 CEO. An extremely smart guy.

His philosophy was do not look for survivors after a train wreck.

The same applies in this situation.
True but it doesn't mean that Mario has to be the one to fire them. The defensive coordinator could decide who to retain and fire

Miami fires DC Lance Guidry after late-season defensive woes

Clearly it was all season. Lying *****.

After a season in which Miami's defense likely cost the Hurricanes a spot in the College Football Playoff, the Hurricanes will be making a change at defensive coordinator.

Lance Guidry is expected to be fired, sources tell CanesInSight. Against FBS opponents, Miami finished 70th in scoring defense (26.7 PPG), 50th in 3rd Down Defense (37.75%) and 82nd in takeaways (1.3),

Mario Cristobal issues the following statement on the decision:

“I want to first thank Coach Guidry for his contributions to the University of Miami.

“In a continuous effort to always improve all aspects of our program, I have decided to make a change on defense. We will move forward and make decisions that provide our players, staff and program the best opportunity to win and develop at the highest level.”

The defense was one of the worst in the ACC during conference play, struggling with communication and pre-snap movement, among other areas.

Miami will now look for its third defensive coordinator of the Cristobal Era, following Guidry and Kevin Steele.

He should have been fired at Syracuse . Im
Sure incoming d players had to know . Just like incoming wr know Emory want be the qb

Nakos is making some of this up. @Cribby @JayCane20 @Hurracanes and others have said names of people we know for a fact have spoken to Mario or been on campus. The strategy has always appeared to be fire everyone except JT and D Nic, move Big Joe off field and hire a current or former HC as DC so Mario can focus on management and recruiting. he doesnt want to baby sit a defense.

One thing I'll say is that Mario didn't really do his normal wait a while and it be a mutual parting.

Publicly fired him. Makes me think Mario isn't very happy
Half of CIS thought he should have been fired mid season, so maybe that was the "months of waiting?"

Certainly no excuse for the lack of coordination on D. Too much confusion and lack of production. Regression.

Defense was a problem vs UF, A&M, Ball State. USF?

Answer: no. So it wasn't all season.
