I'll be 100% honest, this wasn't all on Guidry. Our personnel/recruiting on the defensive side of the ball has been bad, which falls on Guidry, but also falls on Mario, Salave'a, JT, etc.

To a degree. But I saw more than a few instances of some highly regarded prospects out of position or unable to communicate and make the correct reads. There was enough talent on this roster to not have complete meltdowns 10-15 times a game.

This is the biggest lie told on the boards. You rarely see a whole staff change when a new coordinator comes in.

You rarely see position coaches hired before the coordinators but here we are.

He wasn’t decent last year, only slightly better but the same problems existed. Every time we had momentum on offense or scored the defense just let the others O team O take back momentum the ensuing drive. The 2023 unc, Louisville game comes to mind as well as a host of others

I guess if you look at this decision in a vacuum, enjoy the news. Take a look at the bigger picture and see that the defense was our strength last year. Guidry is fired after one bad season and Mario has already had 3 failed coordinator hires. How many bad decisions and seasons does Mario get?

We have already had multiple DC candidates visiting our practices and our campus. I'm sure whoever Mario hires is capable of making his own decisions on who to fire AND who to retain.

There are no limitations on the new DC.

Nakos is making some of this up. @Cribby @JayCane20 @Hurracanes and others have said names of people we know for a fact have spoken to Mario or been on campus. The strategy has always appeared to be fire everyone except JT and D Nic, move Big Joe off field and hire a current or former HC as DC so Mario can focus on management and recruiting. he doesnt want to baby sit a defense.

Why does JT get a pass (from Mario and on these boards)?

Our DL underperformed relative to expectations maybe more than any unit on the team. We all knew secondary would stink and LB was shaky. DL was supposed to carry the team. They all no-showed save for maybe Barrow.

Anything would have been better than the insanity for doing the same thing with the same players getting the same result.

In hindsight he should have done something. Maybe Nicholson could have made a difference. But I was not impressed with LB play either.
