Miami is firing DC Lance Guidry

How many opportunities is he going to get to ***** up hires before someone intervenes? The guy is incompetent.
Look, we all get how much you dislike Cristobal. But try to be a little positive about this- it's change.
From all the low key chatter over the past couple of weeks, this has been in motion for a bit. That's progress.

The bowl game? Mario did not fire him until today, when he should have rung his own neck after seeing he totally misread the defensive talent level and approach after about week 3 or 4.
I would say game 6 would have been a better indication. Who would he have replaced him with midseason?

Packers have had no drop off in LB production, done great for the Fins and knows defense. I'm a fan.

Someone said they were mentioning at C*nesports site that Lightfoot and Scott were exploring that option. I asked the dude if it was the mods or just random fans mentioning that but he never confirmed. I've def been worried about these 2 since they are out of state, didn't play much and then the scuffle on the sideline. Scott would be a major loss. I think with proper coaching he could be a stud here
Yeah we don’t have the depth along the line, especially DT, to be losing that kind of talent. Find a way to keep them.

I do want to say that when we hired Guidry, I liked his attitude and fire. He seems to be a decent coach and good motivator. Maybe he steps back down in to a mid-major kind of DC job or a position coach at another P4 school, maybe in Louisiana.

That being said, his tenure here was atrocious. Job seemed too big for him and his style didn't really fit. We can do better, and I'm hoping whoever we hire brings new ideas and approaches that Guidry apparently was incapable of doing to bring us success on that side of the ball.

Tim Banks, Tennessee
One of the hottest defensive coordinator names in the nation, Tim Banks directed a Tennessee defense in 2024 that ranked in the top 10 nationally in total defense. The Volunteers allowed just 293.2 yards and 16.1 points per game. Tennessee struggled against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff, but Banks’ defense shut down the SEC for most of the season. Sources tell On3 that Banks could listen to Miami and Mario Cristobal. In the three previous seasons, the Vols led the SEC in tackles for loss per game with 7.62 and are third in turnovers gained per game with 1.44.

Jason Taylor, Miami defensive line coach
If Cristobal decided he wanted to promote from within, Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor could be a no-brainer. The former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Hall of Famer joined the staff as an assistant in 2023 and was previously a defensive analyst for Miami. He’s proven he can recruit at a high level, too, playing a key role in flipping five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott from Ohio State to Miami in the 2024 cycle.

Tim Banks watched Michigan shut down Ohio St and said naw I am going to leave my corners on islands against Jeremiah Smith and Emegka (sp?).

Fvck that, I have seen enough of DBs getting burned this year.
