Mel Tucker is a Corch [Suspended after investigation...now fired]

Exactly, you need talent.

Somebody mentioned Dabo winning without Watson & Lawrence, when in fact Dabo had Spiller, Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins, & Dwayne Allen before Watson & Lawrence. And He actually had more talent than that, Clemson was & is a low key SEC program. Even when we beat them in 05' I remember thinking, "****, them boys don't look like any of our other opponents, they look different".

Mel Tucker is a complete dawg.

If you knew the whole story on Mel’s coaching journey I guarantee you that nobody on this board would think he’s overpaid.
A lot of have people have been through a lot. Doesn't mean they get 100 million extension after a very suspect "good" year and no other sustainable success at that level

Maybe they're right and he'll prove to be worth it some day... But if you're trying to say he's worth that NOW then you're on some good stuff over there my friend because ain't no way in ****

His team's tend to play better in the second half, including against us, which is the sign of a coach who is able to make great adjustments.

Michigan State is like the Steelers, not in terms of success, but in that they like to have a coach for looooooooon time. They believe Mel is their guy. They paid him to not even think about another job, which if he was indeed a corch, they wouldn't have to worry about.

Know who the last MSU football coach was to bolt for another college football job in 5 years?

Nick Saban.

They're trying to avoid a repeat of that.
No they got suckered into believing LSU actually wanted Tucker which was not true. They panicked and gave him a huge deal. I ain't hating on him or the school for it, just was a dumb move for a guy that hasn't proven anything. This was a miracle season for them with almost every bounce going their way. Should have been 8-5 at best but is what it is. Nailor, Reed, Walker carried them all year. If they all leave going to be big trouble next year.

It’s way too early to make a decision on Tucker as a coach. He’s done a good job of turning a bad team into a good one but is he a one year wonder or can he maintain success? We’ll have to wait and see.

However, he didn’t just pull off some impossible season at MSU. Mike Dantonio won 10 or more games there 5 times. As recently as 2017. He also had a 13-1 playoff season there. He only had 3 losing seasons in 15 years and finished with a .667 win percentage. Michigan State isn’t Michigan or Ohio State but they’re still in that upper tier of FBS programs that usually finds itself in the top 25.
Dantonio will be in the College Football Hall of Fame one day — and rightly so considering his accomplishments compared to a number of the coaches previously inducted.

But did not Michigan State pass the eye test for a well-coached team last night?

Kept grinding and grinding, hung around and found a way to get a win against a Pitt team that essentially was a mirror image.

Pitt had 3rd string qb and MSU weakness was passing d, they were dead last in the country late in the regular season. Luckily they played trash qb's all year. The one efficient offense they faced embarrassed them. OSU could have beat them by 70. I kind of like MSU and Michigan, because of my hatred for the buckeyes, but this was a fluke season.

Why did MSU want him to begin with after only one (losing) season at Colorado, and ponied up the money to initially lure him from Boulder?

HE. IS. THEIR. GUY. He's been their guy.

1) Name an athletic director anywhere in the country who wouldn't have done the same thing. The combo of Jimmy Sexton and nutjob fan bases got all AD's running scared

2) Who could MSU have hired after this season that likely would've been as good or better than Mel Tucker?

IMO, smarter to "overpay" a coach who's got a decent chance to keep Sparty in the upper tier of the B1G with the occasional win over UM, ND, OSU and PSU.

Michigan St. beat Michigan, and Michigan will probably win the national championshIp. Coaching profession, like many professions, often isn’t fair. Deserving candidates get passed over and never get a shot, while undeserving candidates get recycled every offseason. That said, anyone being objective about Michigan St. season must admit that Mel Tucker can build a program and winning culture, and most of all, he can flat out coach. Every coach is a salesman, but Tucker is not just talk, he put in the work and has demonstrated that he can win 11 games with top 30-35 talent in the second toughest football conference in America.

If I could meet Tucker, Sagan, Mac Brown and Novell, I would want to personally thank them for playing a big part in convincing the BOT to run that snake oil salesman, CMD, out of town

Agree talent needed. According to cis the U has more talent than anyone in coastal since joining ACC. How many times have we won it? Coaching just as important if not more

Who cares they won 11 games THIS YEAR.

We got hella talent at UM and can’t sniff 8 games. I’d take 11 wins however they came. Smh

I forgot to mention that "Dooz" at Pitt is a corch too. A Danny Miaz (mis)led Canes team beats both of those teams last night.

That said, I'll show myself out. Congrats to Mel. I'll revisit this again next year after Sparty's 4th or 5th loss. I'd say the same about Pitt but I have no idea who their OC will be and if "Dooz" somehow lucked into anything with an obviously *****-whipped Kedon Slovis.

You’re misinterpreting what I mean.

The lengths Mel Tucker went to in order to rise the coaching ranks is up there with the best you’ll ever find.

I don’t expect you to understand.
