Mel Kiper Talks Miami

I think his Wife loves South Florida. I think he values family over a bigger pro type coaching gig. I think Al would rather have a statue built here in Miami than go coach in the pro's and be another 7 day a week, 365 coach that never see's his family. He's special and he's ours. Legacy and class will be his calling card when it's said and done. From day one he had a plan to become the greatest coach in Miami football history. He is at the right school, at the right time. He said it on day one. He goes nowhere. EVER 5:23 mark.... HIS PLAN. :neonu:
We are GOLDEN! Go Canes

Golden strikes me as the type who would not hesitate to take an NFL HC job. His goal right now is to re-establish the Miami brand and win a bunch of games. Once he does that he'll probably be in search of a new challenge. He's already viewed as the best in the biz at manufacturing wholesale culture change against heavy odds. All he's got to do now is win big and the sky is the limit for a guy like him.

You're hitting on all cylinders today.

Do you disagree?

Lu, I promise you that 97% of the time you think I'm trolling, I'm not. It's uncanny lol

Even when you're not trolling, the comments read like they're being said by Will Ferrell. Just a thick amount of sarcasm that lets you switch gears. Hence, the cylinders comment and the immediate association with that scene. I mostly support it. This board should be for our entertainment.

I assume Al will go NFL after he wins NC or maybe 2. Al is not going to jump for one of the loser NFL clubs. He will wait for the right one. Next HC has to have HC experience, just like Howard, Jimmy, and Dennis. Love Butch but no NC. Any of us could have one with the team Larry did. No more assistants. If Al holds on long enough, Chudzinski could be available--nobody last long at Cleveland. Chud is my pick for next HC.

Lets hope that he does well enough to get this type of consideration. Quite frankly, when UM is at it's best, this is what happens to our coaches. Now, when you're saddled with the Cokers and Shannon's, you see the other side of the coin

Im among Golden's biggest advocates, but lets see UM put up a top 10 finish before we start making NFL plans for him

No hard rules. You assess when you the time is right. Some of my favorite candidates over the last ten years were either assistants or HCs at smaller schools. Just because we made two atrocious decisions with assistants in Coker and Shannon, it doesn't mean every assistant is incompetent. It means the people who hired those guys (and extended them) did a poor job.

Hmmm been thinking about a college coach who was as accomplished as golden who was given a shot at the nfl. Can't think of one. Maybe someone else can.

Schiano pay attention

Schiano will not last with the bucs.. Division goes through Atlanta then New orleans.... His future is tied to the arm of Josh Freeman. I would not want to bet my money on that guy.

Not a fan of Marrone, he to is tied to a rookie QB who may take years to develop and he doesn't have the luxury of waiting because he plays in the same division as the Pats.

I know we are trying to be forward thinking with a thread like this, but Alfred James Golden is 13-11 and he needs more than one good season. Ala Chip Kelly and Urban Meyer you have to win multiple years in a row. I see guys looking at what happened with Nick Saban. Pro coaching is time consuming.. They're is really no off season.

Cool story bro. But the question was which college coach was given a shot at the NFL. Not what coach you would bet money on.

I believe he'll eventually go pro. But he needs to win a championship first. Hopefully his buddy Jimmy Johnson explains to him that the NFL isn't going anywhere.

If Golden pulls a Butch and leaves unfinished business, he'll regret it.

Again... he can be given a shot, but he hasn't won shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit yet in the immortal words of CLAY DAVIS... so all this is, is a bunch of hyperbole.. I will let you and the rest of guys finish this thread off. Thanks for the feedback Sir.

He did miarcles with one of the worst QBs of all time. It took Freeman to actually start throwing games on purpose before they were out of playoff contention.

Then again, the Bucs are owned by *** futbol fans.
