McFarland sets announcement date.

The later date is not a good sign for us. He's waiting to see if Maryland can get his HS HC hired.

The later date is a good sign for us. He's waiting till the end to reduce the amount of backlash from the hometown fans.
 
The date does not matter. The kid just wants to announce on TV. He couldn't do his original plan at the all American game because of his injury so he pushed it back to a different time he could get on TV.
 
The Golden Years have turned this fanbase into a bunch of pussies.

Stop fretting every little change or delay in a recruit's process. He's had us in the lead for a long time. If he ends up wasting his career at Maryland then **** him and watch Richt bring in a talented RB who actually wants to be here.

I know this is tongue in cheek.

But I do laugh at how many people blame the kids for this. They only do this because we give them the attention.

We and the recruiting sites are to blame for this not them.

Agreed. I put a lot of the parents in that blame boat too. The way a lot of recruitments are handled are often reflective of either the general chaos surrounding the kid and/or the parents/mentors basking in the attention too.

Btw, none of this is an attack on McFarland. Like you said, I was *mostly being tongue-in-cheek there.

If Maryland hired his HS coach they did it obviously to secure player(s) from DeMatha. We're the only program that hires HS coaches strictly for their coaching and tactical acumen.

Hopefully, DeMatha has other players Maryland thinks they can get by hiring the HS coach and isn't doing this strictly for McFarland. If they're doing it just to get McFarland then it must be a done deal.
