Noobs. Wait til we offer another RB before you panic.

Lol at the Noobs comment. You must be a noob. If you've followed Hurricane recruiting for the last 10 years or so then you know there's absolutely no reason to be confident in a player like this.

Also we did start inquiring into Cordarrian Richardson according to an article that recently came out so.....

It wasn't an article. It was some random twitter account rumor mongering.

One thing is for sure: it does not bode well for us that McFarland unofficially visited Maryland on the 10th, right after he officially visited the week prior. From an unbiased perspective, it seems that Maryland is gaining traction and fast.

I see this similar to the Jeudy saga. Out-of-state program leads for prospect, but home town team goes all out in a last ditch attempt to flip said prospect. This time were Alabama, and Maryland is us; however, we all know how close that recruitment was, so Richt better be ready for a absolute dog fight, like Saban was. We cannot afford to lose this kid what-so-ever.

I want this guy in the class but there is a certain Storm Johnson feel to his recruitment. I'm sure he's talented but it doesn't seem like there are as many power schools actively recruiting him as there should be, there's usually a reason why.

Alabama was after him hard early on.....

He's elite. He's liked a few schools and that's it, and isn't an attention hound. He's the opposite of Storm Johnson, and a better talent.

The later the commitment the better for us.
It takes pressure off the recruit since there's less time for the instate team to hassle him, yet secure his spot on a team he wants to play for.

Just curious other then the thought that the staff sucks is there a reason why people are picking Maryland?

Should've been putting the full court press on Darrian Felix (if we pressed he would've been receptive to staying in state) or even Malik Davis who is an underrated back I think Florida got a steal with.

McFarland's recruitment always felt strange and off to me.

Hope he comes, but even before this news I felt we should've been looking to add another RB just due to McFarland and Burn's injury history. We're good at the position next season, but it would still be disheartening if we lost this battle with Maryland given Brown has been on this kid since forever. So much for recruiting being about relationships. That junk ain't nothing but another in a line of excuses attempting to explain why these kids choose anywhere but Miami.

They have a pretty good class this year (just below ours actually). Their staff is doing work and throwing around that Under Armor money.

Still don't get why he's not coming. Up to last month every interview I've seen he's praised UM or said they're #1 , Richt this decade has recruited rbs IMO better then anybody, he'll play day 1 here and Pete's been extremely confident so I am not following what makes everybody paranoid

Everything you mentioned is absolutely, 100% correct --

So why hasn't he committed yet? And why is it even a choice between us and Maryland when it should be a no brainer?

Couple that with the news of the HS coach, and I think you have your answer.

If Maryland hired his HS coach they did it obviously to secure player(s) from DeMatha. We're the only program that hires HS coaches strictly for their coaching and tactical acumen.

Hopefully, DeMatha has other players Maryland thinks they can get by hiring the HS coach and isn't doing this strictly for McFarland. If they're doing it just to get McFarland then it must be a done deal.

So far it is a might hire so could Maryland be trying to figure out if hiring the guy would be enough? He'd probably already be hired if they thought it was a lock.

I'm not worried about Maryland at all. They just lost to one of the worst teams in the ACC in Boston College. They just finished 6-7 and that's going to be the norm for them.

Richt's offense highlights RB's and he has a lengthy resume of putting RBs in the NFL - McFarland knows this. Also, yes, the later he puts his announcement off the better. Remember, Richt's going to get to go to this kid's living room and can recruit him as well. The fact that he's announcing a week before NSD is ideal. He probably doesn't want to have to deal with the locals over there get in a hissy fit for weeks because of his decision.

Posters made it sound like they already hired him. If not, then they're trying to empty the gun and do whatever it takes. Power move if you will.
