If Maryland hired his HS coach they did it obviously to secure player(s) from DeMatha. We're the only program that hires HS coaches strictly for their coaching and tactical acumen.

Hopefully, DeMatha has other players Maryland thinks they can get by hiring the HS coach and isn't doing this strictly for McFarland. If they're doing it just to get McFarland then it must be a done deal.

So far it is a might hire so could Maryland be trying to figure out if hiring the guy would be enough? He'd probably already be hired if they thought it was a lock.
Posters made it sound like they already hired him. If not, then they're trying to empty the gun and do whatever it takes. Power move if you will.

Just the nature of the board. Guy isn't hired. Like the Southridge guy isn't hired at Miami.

Just curious other then the thought that the staff sucks is there a reason why people are picking Maryland?

They have a pretty good class this year (just below ours actually). Their staff is doing work and throwing around that Under Armor money.

Still don't get why he's not coming. Up to last month every interview I've seen he's praised UM or said they're #1 , Richt this decade has recruited rbs IMO better then anybody, he'll play day 1 here and Pete's been extremely confident so I am not following what makes everybody paranoid

Everything you mentioned is absolutely, 100% correct --

So why hasn't he committed yet? And why is it even a choice between us and Maryland when it should be a no brainer?

Couple that with the news of the HS coach, and I think you have your answer.
He wanted to commit at the UA game and when he couldn'the was either going to decide later in the month or NSD so that doesn't really matter and if the coachis hired its to a Maryland power its about guys in the future not necessarily him and plus unless that ccoachis a father figure he won't affect a recruit that much so I am sorry iI'm just not worried at all

I was just on their 247 board and its VIP which is still lame as **** but the posts I saw the fans don't believe he's coming

If we lose a recruit to Maryland of all god**** places I give up in this staff and recruiting.

Yes I know he is in their backyard but that team is crap and they will always be crap. McFarland has a long standing relationship with Brown so I won't jump to conclusions but all signs are pointing to this guy giving us the Holloman Jeudy and Harley treatment.

Like he poster above said, hiring the high school coach always seals the deal unless it's of course Rumph.

Too bad you missed out on the Stefon Diggs recruiting development.

I believe an OL from Dematha is going to Maryland. If I recall, he was the kid who got injured when they played Good Counsel in that televised game this season.

I think they lost like 3 or 4 studs from DeMatha last year starting with Haskins and that led to a mass overhaul that would be a bigger reason

Maryland has certainly been coming on strong - they've had 9 commits in the last month.

This definitely "feels" like he'll choose Maryland

I looked at their list, it's nothing special at all. Filling your class with average players isn't momentum.

You should lose a year of eligibility if you set an announcement date and don't honor it.

You should lose 2 years of eligibility if your commitment ceremony runs more than 15 mins late.

You should lose all eligibility if we have to hear a story about your paperwork "still not in yet" on NSD more than 3 hrs after your commitment ceremony.

I know this is tongue in cheek.

But I do laugh at how many people blame the kids for this. They only do this because we give them the attention.

We and the recruiting sites are to blame for this not them.
