Maryland staff trying to buy time. They did it with another one of their top targets Tariq Castro fields who was leaving heavily to penn state and was going to commit to them this past Monday after what Maryland folks thought they were leading this whole time and pushed for him to postpone his commitment and buy time
Yeah, looks too similar to not be something the Maryland staff asked for

Maryland football target Tariq Castro-Fields is delaying his commitment until National Signing Day - Testudo Times

Maryland can say anything they want but if the kid wants to win and get playing time Miami is the obvious choice. Thomas Brown is like McFarland big brother I have confidence in him closing the deal.

This happens every year if you really follow recruiting. Rarely so guys commit with a week to go if they're an elite recruit especially if the home team is so desperate to have them hold off. Fact is he's been basically all Cane for the past few months who was prepared to leave home so sure Maryland made him think but Brown is coming tomorrow who he has a great relationship with so if you gave him credit before tonight trust that he who was also a key factor in getting Chubb, Michel etc to UGA will close tomorrow

MD recruited 4 or 5 other De Matha kids and hired their coach. It's a tough decision on this kid for sure.

Hope he takes at hard look at the RBs that Richt has produced in his career. Our offense is built for McFarland.

I'm sorry but under no circumstance that doesn't involved being payed off do you know where you are going for months, then 7 days before NSD and the day before you announce you get a sudden change of heart that requires more thinking. You have got to be kidding me. Its not that ******* difficult to sit down and make a decision on where you want to go to school and stick with it.
And this isn't about recruiting not being for the weak, this is just ridiculous.
Man if I did this when I was deciding on a college my mom would have slapped the **** out of me for being retarded and indecisive.

I still think he chooses us, but that makes it even worse that he would need another few days time to stick with the decision hes been set on for months.

Never trust that silent commit bullshyt. Maryland made some sort of power move either with bags or some sort of "promise."

Let's also not forget Maryland hired his coach, usually a deal sealer unless it's our very own Rumph.

already stated that it had no effect on his decision. lets just wait and see what pete gets esp w his confidence about mcfarland and what happens with the brown in home

Or he's just getting a lot of local pressure. He's a 17 year old kid - you sound retarded in your analysis of the situation.

Pete says that McFarland has been knowing this for months and that this was essentially a non-factor.

Thankfully Richt is doing an in-home with him on Thursday. But this is why I wasn't penciling this kid in this class. That silent commit **** is overrated.

Possible he told MD he's not coming an they just asked him to hold off, basically just doing them a solid to make it look like its a tough call?

So if tomorrow morning he would have woken up and committed on B/R and tells everyone he's shutting recruitment down and wont be taking phone calls or anything what effect would the "local Pressure" have? Would it just be so overwhelming that he cries himself to sleep at night? Get out of here with that, This kid was paid to give them more time to change his mind.

maryland is the laughing stock of the big ten, just like when they were in the acc. left because they didn't want to compete no more so i don't think he's going there but hey who knows.

The running back tweeted out on Tuesday night that "After talking with my family, I have decided to push my commitment date back to have more time to think about this life changing decision. Thank you for my privacy."

It is believed the Maryland staff convinced him on Tuesday to wait and keep pondering his decision with eight days to signing day.

Maryland a reai team on the up :monkey-serious: if you believe that Cleveland will be in the Super Bowl next year.

Must have offended some Terp supporters to get 2 down votes.

Maryland is probably the biggest surprise in all of college football with their recruiting this year.

DJ Durkin is a legit recruiter with his energy and track record. Add to it the local team and his friends going there, it is understandable he'd waffle.

If the family wants him to stay home on top of it and he just had a great in-home I can see the reason he'd wait.

The bad thing is it seemed he was set on us and a great in-home got him to move his commit date. Still hoping for the best here, but we shall see.
