Mayock gives props to Seantrel

Remember the throw on the sideline against Duke where the defender had about 15 seconds to make a play on the ball but chose not to?

The 7 INT's is impressive but the guy made some questionable decisions

Have him throw into bins and trash cans for about 60% of the offseason. For real.

Here's my take on Bunche: He has the talent and work ethic to be the starting left tackle. He has a ton of strength and has pretty good speed which he shows when running to the second level. His weightroom numbers don't translate to functional strength. He is listed at 6'7 and plays at about 6'5. I think his pad level issue is a lack of flexibility. He seems to be musclebound which has killed his ability to drive block. It doesn't matter how strong you are, if you can't play with leverage than you're just going to position block at the point of attack. His pass protection seems like a combination of being stiff and he has a tendency to be too patient with his punch or steps and he gets stuck playing catch up. Now Kehoe believes in this kid and his ability and I do too. I've been to a few practices and I can tell you that Bunche is the vocal leader of the OL during practice. As weird as it sounds I really hope they get him in a yoga class or something because it would drastically improve his play. Flowers will definitely give him a run for his money this year.

courcy,
Now that Seantrel is fully recovered, do you think it makes sense to flip him and Bunche and let Trel play LT? Or is it not worth it to disrupt the chemistry?

Or ricocheting one off a defenders face for a TD against NCST?

Still he did make some **** good throws that were dropped too, by Scott in particular.

This insinuates that you expect Flowers to be the swing tackle? I have to say I'd be really surprised if Flowers doesn't get the nod.

And this is why I've never paid any attention to folks who ***** about Seantrel's weight room numbers. He has functional strength and awesome bend not only for a guy of his size but for the size of an average tackle. Seantrel would be a really good tackle if he was 6'6 and 310 pounds as opposed to being 6'8 and 335. The 6'8 just makes him that much longer. He's a **** of an athlete for a kid his size.

Question for those who have seen them both, who will be better at the next level...Flowers or Seantrel? Because I have a man crush on Ereck Flowers dude. He just seems to be the prototype of everything you want in a tackle. Long, flexible, plays with leverage, short-area quickness, and has a little nasty in him as well.

I'm guessing if you analyzed every throw by other QBs with good TD/INT ratios they also had a few dropped INTs in their favor. Every QB benefits from that sort of thing.

Right of course. It usually evens out in the end and for his first year starting Morris had a pretty **** good year with some ups and downs. Still lots of room for improvement which is exciting for me anyway.

I didn't have a huge problem with his decision making. It was his accuracy and touch.

He left a ton of plays out there on the field.

One that sticks out is the first play from scrimmage against Bethune Cookman. He had Duke wide *** open on a 9 route, and airmailed it.

You'd have to factor that on both sides, Dorsett dropped 2tds in the ND game alone.

If everything was equal, I think Flowers would start. He's the best prospect on the team at any position.

But Seantrel won't sit and Bunche is a respected upperclassman with an NFL future. I don't see him being benched.

I guess there's two thoughts on this. If you want to boost his draft stock a flip to the left side side makes the most sense. The other thought is that his preexisting injury makes him a RT only. Personally I think he stays at RT. I have no info on his old injury but I'm basing it on him playing better on the right side.

Flowers should push for a starting spot but in the end I think leadership and experience wins out and he rotates with Bunche.

I think the injury is being completely overblown at this point. I don't think it precludes him in the slightest from playing LT.

One area he definitely needs to improve on is when he's outside the pocket and just needs to throw it away. I remember a few plays where he let the defender get on him and force a fumble.

Rewatched the FSU game again to see how the tackles held up against the pass rush. Anyone else notice the Carradine (an elite college DE no doubt) beat Bunche repeatedly. He just doesn't seem quick enough to stick around with a quick pass rusher. I really hope Flowers steps his game up and supplants Bunche. He's not an elite LT Miami needs to win championships.

You don´t need an elite LT to win championships.

You need one at least good enough to compete with good passer rushers you'll see to win one. He's not a championship caliber LT. He was beat on almost every play vs Carradine
