Mayock gives props to Seantrel

You guys have to realize that it's hard for an offensive linemen to "look" like a beast when we run a stretch/outside zone scheme. for the most part you see our guys chasing or fighting to get hat placement instead of the smashmouth Wisconsin type of scheme. Seantrel is an incredible athlete who is just behind others in natural strength. That might have been laziness or it might have been a poor strength program in high school. He doesn't play lazy and is always finishing plays. He most definitely owned Werner last year and I see the finished product coming out of his senior year.

I've joined Lu now. I argued down the thought that we shouldn't run the zone scheme during the year, but I want "pull the guard, block down, get a double team on the nose, and get to the second level." We have some beasts up front. Mongo and Linder can get after it with anybody up front. Bunche should be plowing people down hill. Enough of this sideways ****.

Ha. Been beating this drum till it broke. Great post by Courcy in noting the effect of a system's "style" on the players.

The beauty of it is that you can do a bit of both. We're almost assuredly going to see some stretch action. My issue is that became our bread and butter. Even in tighter quarters, down in the redzone, Fisch would fall back to his Andy Reid-like tendencies.

Not sure why Seantrel always got knocked by fans, I guess being one of the top players fans kinda look down on him because of our record (Lamar also gets same type of backlash I have seen). After his recruitment dude has been pretty good here, even with coaching change seantrel was always mentioned as a good performer at Utough and the like, was in great shape last season prior to crash and for all talk of his parents havent heard a peep in paper or radio since he has been here compared to others. People despised him because he attended some close friends funerals but had it been them I am sure they would do the same. Sometimes the line of seeing these guys also as regular humans who want to pay respects to close childhood friends get blurred.

Also in every interview he is yes sir, no sir and very respectful to fans, good kid, hope he dominates and gets what he has always wanted. He can go first round with a great year, not first tackle though, that Michigan kid came back for whatever reason (had nothing to prove coming back) barring injury should be first oline off board

Yeah, I've seen those "Andy Reid like tendencies" enough from the other side to know the feeling of adulation if the Eagles don't score before they hit the 20. We can win those one on one matchups in the trenches. Though Seantrel is poor on the bench, he has plenty of functional strength when it comes to driving a guy backwards. Turn the hogmollies loose.

We are still going to run the crap out of inside/outisde zone. Especially since Kehoe and Trick teach it the same. And Coley teaches it the same right along with them. This past season FSU started to do some more gap style blocking but it was a still a pure zone scheme.

I agree Kehoe had some issues with evualations towards the end of his first stint, but I really like the guys that he has brought in. Gall can play!

I think the guys we bring in at O-line will be better simply this go around with Kehoe because Golden is overlooking everything. He isn't going to let Kehoe offer some weak *** o-lineman like Coker did.

Since kehoe is a questionable talent evaluator we should have high hopes for that Nigerian kid?

I know. I acknowledged it in my post. There's a place for it and, with Duke's ability to cut and go, it's often to our benefit.

Seantrel, like it or not, will be judged up against Mt. McKinney. He has that kind of potential and it takes dedication for him to get there. Hopefully, this essentially being a cotract year is motivation enough to dominate every game.

Morris was hurt in the FSU game, hard to judge him off of that game.

Didn't practice all week iirc.

Let's hope that was the reason. Because after watching every offensive snap in that game, he really looked awful. His movement looked fine. His ankle looked fine. His anticipation and touch were shockingly erratic. Here's to hoping they have him throwing into buckets all spring and summer!

Never realized how bad morris played in that game..

He needs to improve alot over the course of spring and summer. Gotta hit open receivers

Seantrel Henderson is one of a few players on the football team that my son (UM athlete) is impressed with as a respectful, level headed young man who happened to be not only a very good athlete but a good person too.
At least, that what he has been telling me.
