Mayock gives props to Seantrel

If he dominates/is in perfect shape/has a great attitude this year he might be a top five pick overall.

T: Henderson
T: Flowers
G: Felicano
G: Linder
C: McDermott

Bunche is right there too at Tackle but ain't no shame in being the backup at tackle.

Impossible. I was assured by many fans that Henderson is lazy with a bad attitude and will never amount to anything because he was a 5 star recruit. No chance that he just needed time to recover from back surgery.

Seantrel, like it or not, will be judged up against Mt. McKinney. He has that kind of potential and it takes dedication for him to get there. Hopefully, this essentially being a cotract year is motivation enough to dominate every game.

I've made no secret of how big a fan I am of Seantrel, I think he'll be better than McKinney. He's got better feet, and makes McKinney look stiff. If Seantrel plays in every game this year like he did against Werner he's a top 10/5 pick (assuming he can go over to the left side). It's so impressive to watch him treat a 6'4 260lb DE like he was a little kid....freaking amazing.

He played pretty well against Tuitt from ND if I remember correctly. He is a first round talent and can be that anchor this year

Every player that isn't as good as an all-time great sucks according to a lot of our fans. There were times when Seantrel was swallowing the entire side of the line. He certainly needs to become more consistent, but he's the best Miami lineman in a long time.

The Miami Herald maligned Henderson last summer. Because their case was flimsy around the edges, they went after him with a bunch of speculations and snarky innuendos. I think a lot of people were influenced by those articles and also failed to understand the debilitating effect of the kid's injury situation.

I am rooting for him partly because he can make a difference on the field but also because I don't like to see players slimed by "fans" and by the press.

Seantrel Henderson is one of a few players on the football team that my son (UM athlete) is impressed with as a respectful, level headed young man who happened to be not only a very good athlete but a good person too.
At least, that what he has been telling me.

Not sure what to take from this. Is this insinuating that the majority of the team does not fall in this category? Genuinely wondering.

I think Seantrel showed a lot about his character by coming back this year. He would have been drafted and UTough has to be grueling for a giant like him.

He knows he has unfinished business out there and its a nice change from previous years to see a kid who has had a little controversy, buy in and do something for the team and himself.

Hope the big man stays healthy and beasts the **** out.

Would love to see him get a look at LT, that's the money position and kid is in a contract year.

This was not a shot at the rest of the team but as praise of Henderson. I guess I have to further explain myself:
Many of the football players see themselves as big shots and talk down to other students. They expect to be invited to every party and sometimes act foolishly at those parties. Many are not nice to be around. Now, that does not mean they are thugs. It just immature and careless and often inconsiderate. Now, my son impression of Henderson that he exhibited the social maturity and reason that not everybody on the team showed.

Seantrel was among the players he was impressed with. That does not mean the rest of the players are not good people.

If I say you impress me as very good poster then you probably would take that that everybody who posts here is a jerk, right?

This is not an accurate parallel to what you said. If you were to say "you are one of the few good posters around here", that would be a better analogy to what you said.

Here's my take on Bunche: He has the talent and work ethic to be the starting left tackle. He has a ton of strength and has pretty good speed which he shows when running to the second level. His weightroom numbers don't translate to functional strength. He is listed at 6'7 and plays at about 6'5. I think his pad level issue is a lack of flexibility. He seems to be musclebound which has killed his ability to drive block. It doesn't matter how strong you are, if you can't play with leverage than you're just going to position block at the point of attack. His pass protection seems like a combination of being stiff and he has a tendency to be too patient with his punch or steps and he gets stuck playing catch up. Now Kehoe believes in this kid and his ability and I do too. I've been to a few practices and I can tell you that Bunche is the vocal leader of the OL during practice. As weird as it sounds I really hope they get him in a yoga class or something because it would drastically improve his play. Flowers will definitely give him a run for his money this year.

Never realized how bad morris played in that game..

He needs to improve alot over the course of spring and summer. Gotta hit open receivers

If morris plays better we should of beat ND KS and FSU. He has no touch and cant hit open guys at all. Just got a great deep ball

Jersey, I do not want derail the thread by dragging this further, but again, I didn't say he was one of the "few good players". Read what I said again. I said he was one of the few football players on the team MY SON WAS IMPRESSED WITH. Yes, you can say he was not impressed with every player he interacted with but it definitely does not mean those players he was not impressed with are bad players. If you draw that conclusion then you are taking it out of context.
This was his opinion any way and I guess he can be impressed with whoever he wants!

If Seantrel lives up to his potential he will the the first pick in the draft.
Let's face it, prototypical offensive tackles are extremely rare. There might be one in each draft class, and they very rarely are busts.
Most live up to their billing.
