Mario, Dawson, and Cam cost us the game

The fourth down to open the second half is what cost this team the game. You spend all the resources on developing a monster OL, big backs and you call a tool out to the opposite side? **** that.

Left multiple scores on the field. If Cam wants to play in the NFL he needs to learn to take what is there or throw the ******* ball away.
While I don't disagree that they should have called a run, Fletcher was open and Cam wanted to throw it to him, he just didn't turn his head in time.

Mario chose to not kick 2 FGs

Cam missed dudes all game doing the same dumb **** he’s been doing all season.

Dawson only call meaningful plays when we have to comeback and is the most Dr. Jeckel/Mr. Hyde coordinator I’ve ever seen.

Don’t tell me about Guidry. They got the stops they needed to win the game and at the end of the day that’s all that matters.
Going for it on 4th instead of kicking FG’s is the Cam Ward affect.

I get it but at the same time it’s just not necessary. Building a team the preaches physicality and then calling a play action pass when you need half a yard infuriates me.
I understand that, I just think we wouldn't be talking about this if he completes the pass to the open guy.

To be fair, I yelled "RUN THE BALL" at the TV after the pass fell incomplete.

This team wins 7-8 games without Ward.

What we really should be questioning is Mario’s track record hiring coaches, development, evaluations, and propensity to get worse throughout the season.

But y’all don’t want to hear that.
People keep saying this . What was his record Washington state

The TOs don't bother me. Nor the 2pt try or going for it on 4th-short.

Cam tries hero ball too much, and Dawson calls plays without a sense the flow of the game. Or something like that. One drive we seem to throw over and over, or run over and over. Little use of the RBs and TEs in the passing game. RPOs inside ad nauseum. WR screens that rarely work but keep getting called.

I feel silly being critical of what is statistically the best offense in CFB but how good could it be with more variety?

Maybe it's just me...

Defensively they're missing run stuffing space eaters at DT, have poor tackling LBs, and a confused secondary. Guidry thinks he has to scheme them into making plays but this doesn't cover up bad fundamentals.
No you’re right Dawson had no feel for offensive identity that game and no rhythm. That 4th and one play action when we had their defense on the ropes by running it told me everything for the rest of the game.

We scored 23 points! They scored 28, all the mods and analysts said as long as this defense holds teams around 31 points this offense WILL win. The defense did that! I dont mind saying the defense should have been better today, but the offense is the reason we lost the game today in my opinion.
Why can’t it be both? Defense was just as much at fault against a team that can’t pass as it was in our Offense. Defense has been trash as **** all season long. Inevitably, the offense had a bad game and defense couldn’t bail them out.

This is poor recruiting on defense and **** poor portal evaluations staring at you in the face. Guidry isn’t helping, neither.

Maybe. This game is on Guidry's head. No pass rush, can't set the edge, can't stop motion, kids are absolutely lost.

I can’t agree. All season we’ve said D just needs to hold the opponent under 30. They did that. Even got UM the ball back with 2 minutes left and a chance to win. If Cristobal kicks the FGs and the extra point, that’s 7 pts. Let’s see in a 28-23 game, I think 7 points would have helped. We also got royally screwed by refs, especially on an obvious PI that probably results in a TD, but we squandered other opportunities

It definitely would have helped, and chasing points so early is so so stupid. Mario just has these insane blind spots and brain farts, I don't know what his deal is, especially since he's so meticulous in other areas. Is the meddling just overcompensation?

Not kicking the FGs was bad in hindsight but at the time each one made sense. Ward killed multiple drives by refusing to take the easy yards and trying to play hero ball, even on 3rd downs.

Guidry sucked. They ran a handful of plays over and over and he never adjusted. Our defensive scheme made it look like he thought the field was only as wide as the distance between the OTs

Middle of the field is always open, quick slants, crossers, seam routes.

Nobody can stop it and it leads to explosive plays every game. We need to start our offense there, not run them occasionally.

Cam is best when he can get the ball out quick to guys in space.

Stop calling deep routes and slow developing plays when you know he has a tendency to hold the ball waiting for plays to open up.

This should be a 90% up tempo, quick passing offense, with some spread run concepts sprinkled in.
Those quick plays are there but Cam often ignores them until he has no other choice

I think he trusts his coordinators since he hired them, and does not consider the possibility he failed yet again with his coordinator hires. These guys have no feel for the game. What was Dawson seeing that made him keep calling screens? If Ward isn’t taking check downs or holding the ball too long then run the ball. Compensate for what is happening on the field. For example, GT had a qb with a bad arm. Did he throw anyways? Nope. GT was smart enough to have him only run the ball, then bring in a different guy to pass the ball. And on the flip side, A competent DC might notice this tendency and adjust accordingly.

Guidry defending King today reminded me of NoD vs KSU and Nebraska, where the QBs threw less than 15 times and we still got our stuff pushed in. And THEN GT bringing in a dedicated "passing QB" and we still couldn't defend it was just insulting. Does Guidry have a goldfish memory and thinks every play is a random coin flip?

Uhhh, he fumbled away the only chance we had to win. He's been nothing short of spectacular all year, but this is on him.
The defence played like they usually do, but gave him the ball back and he blew it. Period.

That wasn't the only chance we had to win.

We went for it twice within the FG range in the RedZone. No points

Horrible pass play call on 4th and 1 when we had run it that whole drive.

Sam Brown dropped a dime mid-field that killed a drive.

Thanks to him, we were in a position to win. He fumbled while playing hero ball, yes, but a lot went wrong before that, putting him in that situation.

Offenses eventually are gonna have off games. They had plenty of chances inside GTs territory, this time they just couldn’t finish like they have been

This more on Guidry and the defense. Giving up 300 yards on the ground to a team that couldn’t pass is pathetic.
