I was probably the most vocal Freeze supporter on the board.I know you’re gonna get a lot of **** for this one but also I wasn’t a fan of the hire BUT the big picture stuff was we finally got some people mobilized to rebuild the foundation of the program
That was the bigger thing hopefully for the future I said at least Mario would have a plan and be allowed to work it. Not sure if it plays out how we hope or not
But one reason I was against Lane. We would have been a much better team in 2022 and 2023 (just my opinion) but he’s not a guy you bring in if you want long term changes
But I also wanted Freeze so what the **** do I know
I’m with ya there. It’s weirdly close to our situation honestly. I’ve always loved his offenses and his recruiting but to be fair I never imagined a team coached my Cristobal would have the best offense in the country eitherI was probably the most vocal Freeze supporter on the board.
Being 100% honest, his on-field product so far has been **** at Auburn.
At the same time, his classes have been very good, and I expect that you'll start to see the fruit of that next season.
If they aren't substantially improved next year, then I'll probably have to say I was just flat out wrong about The Iceman's ability to get results.
I agree with you. Mario does have his limitations, but he’s also shown growth and adaptability in ways few expected, which gives me hope.I know you’re gonna get a lot of **** for this one but also I wasn’t a fan of the hire BUT the big picture stuff was we finally got some people mobilized to rebuild the foundation of the program

You get a lot of **** from people when you say things like this and they go “YOU LOWERED YOUR EXPECTATIONS!”I agree with you. Mario does have his limitations, but he’s also shown growth and adaptability in ways few expected, which gives me hope.
If you had told anyone Miami would lead the country in offense and have the best passing attack under Mario, they’d have called you crazy. Yet here we are.
• He stayed out of play-calling for most of the season, and maybe even to a fault in the Syracuse game, where we were running the ball at will but kept airing it out. On the flip side, some would’ve criticized if he went conservative after going up 21.
• He remains an excellent recruiter in my opinion. His persistence with Cam, for example, paid off and made this season special. NIL and conference affiliation are reshaping the recruiting, and I trust Mario to adapt.
Objectively, we should be in the playoffs. The defense has its issues, but that’s a separate conversation.
• The offensive line is set for years.
• As you mentioned, he’s done a great job rallying support from the right people with money.
Yes, he still has flaws, but Lane Kiffin and Hugh Freeze have underwhelmed too. I’m optimistic about next year because we’ve got the pieces on offense to be elite again. The defense needs work, and we definitely need a new DC. But Mario is here for the long haul and has shown a willingness to adapt, whether people like it or not, so let’s see how he builds from here.
It’s not entirely fair to criticize coaching recommendations from two years ago, as they were largely based on commodities at the time. For some reason, people seem to overlook the unique challenges of coaching at Miami. It’s a different animal—there are significant obstacles stemming from years of neglect to the program. That makes it hard to predict how any coach would perform here compared to other jobs.I know you’re gonna get a lot of **** for this one but also I wasn’t a fan of the hire BUT the big picture stuff was we finally got some people mobilized to rebuild the foundation of the program

Maybe I’m just worn down from watching the program take so much abuse, but I’m genuinely glad to see a concerted effort with real financial buy in. After Manny was hired, I honestly thought that was the final nail in the coffin, and we’d be stuck as a Wake Forest-type program in the ACC.
I like Lane Kiffin a lot, but there’s no way he would’ve had the same resources Mario now has. For better or worse, I’m rooting for Mario because of the support and buy in he’s getting from the higher ups.
That said, all criticism of Mario is warranted. My fear is that if this experiment doesn’t work out, we’ll end up right back where we started hiring a “Houston Nutt” type of coach with a $2 million salary pool for him and his assistants.

difference and the reason why people should want Mario to succeed is he offers something none of them do. This is his home. he wants to be hear until the die he dies. I like lanning but id be shock he he didnt leave at some point, maybe even for the NFL. Mario wants to be a lifer. There is no perfect coach.
Look at Deboer at Alabama. Many considered him an offensive genius. Then he comes to Alabama with a huge talent advantage.
And lays eggs vs Vanderbilt and only scored THREE points vs Oklahoma? They underperformed in that game by 5 TDs. Favored by 2 TDs and lost by 3 TDs.
Chip Kelly..offensive genius. 10 points against Michigan with the most expensive roster in CFB. Missed out on B10 championship because of it.
Every coach has flaws and has games where their players don't perform like they're expected.
I don't think Mario is the best coach in the country but I think he gives us our best chance at competing constantly l consistently because nobody else would get the financial commitment he's getting.
My post is the first at the top of his official hire thread I really thought it was the nail in the coffin. We talk about Manny a lot but it’s a good example of the embarrassing dysfunction we were just a few years ago
It certainly wasn’t Mannys fault that he got this job way before he was qualified. The man is obviously a competent coach but when Richt retired and we literally **** ourselves and went a bought out Diaz I gave up all hope this program would ever be serious again
It was the stupidest most amateurish **** I’ve seen in a long list of stupid amateurish ****
So the pivot we made when we hired Mario was a huge positive as sad as that is, even if Mario wasn’t necessarily my choice
everything @RiDLer80 laid out i stated every time his name would come up when we had coaching openings. lol
Temper your expectations this may have been the Peak/HIGH
What is with this wanting to be alumni instead of a real coach. I love Ed Reed but nope
Good coaches, like the ones you mentioned, will elevate the play of their team by putting players in positions to succeed. Seems like Mario's teams win in spite of him and not because of himDillingham in Year 2 crippled by sanctions, took a 3-win team to the Big12 title game.
Lanning in Year 2, PAC-12 title game. Year 3, undefeated and in the Big10 title game.
Rhett in Year 2, new conference, ACC title game.
But it takes time to to build a program. Sushwhsixsijx HARBAUGH dhdhusjejejx or something like that.
Yuck the thought of Mario for lifedifference and the reason why people should want Mario to succeed is he offers something none of them do.
