Mario Cristobal offers no discernable advantage

I feel like every offseason for 5 or 6 more years we're going to be saying, "This is going to show us if Mario can do it or not."
If you can’t see that 22>21 then I don’t know what to tell you. Brick by brick, we are building champions of life and winning more football game. How you do anything is how you do everything and we are doing one more.

From “I knew everything I needed to know about Al Golden” in the Maryland game to 8 years of Mario talking about how he built FIU and Oregon to stardom and if not for Manny and Banda he could be a star

Why?

This is an ignorant post.

You know what advantage Mario brings? The people with all the money at Miami he is tight with.

You want to see a completely irrelevent program like weve been past 20 years? Send Mario packing. If Mario isnt successful here, then good luck.

Miami was butter soft on a warm summer day when Mario got here. Mentally and physically. Terrible culture. 6'1 290 OL, devoid of real talent. He is trying to build Miami up to a top 10 program in a world that is run by SEC and BIG 10. His job has gotten harder.

I know this, in last 2 years we havent been beaten in trenches much at all when it was a regular occurance prior to him. Physically we hold up and beat most anyone we play at LOS. So I would say he has brought some advantage.

Agree with this.

In addition we're looking at only our second 10 win season since 2003, and possibly our best season since 2003 depending on the Iowa St game.

That has to be recognized. For reasons none of us can figure out it's been exceeding hard to win over the past 20 years at UM. But it's been the reality. Mario achieved an outlier record this season. That's the bottom line.

And half the team was the best in college football this season. The goal now is to prevent too much of a fall off on the offensive side while rescuing the defensive side from the horror show we witnessed in 2024. That starts with going after a truly proven and elite P4 DC. On offense we'll likely never see another Cam, but Mario showed UM is an attractive place for a QB with real on-field results to come play. (No it's not Emory's time for the simple reason he's not proven. Sorry.) OL play should always be among the best, running game should be good to take pressure off, and while not having OSU level receivers we should have top-10/20 wr talent.

For 2025 I think we get one of the best portal QB's. Then we have to hope some of the young WR's emerge and we finally add a legit WR or two from the portal. We should be much more attractive to quality portal WR's given the performance from that group this season. I don't expect the offense to be at 2024 level, but I can see a plausible path for the offense to still be very good in 2025.

The 2025 W-L record will mostly be the result of how quickly and by how much the defense is fixed.

Not a Mario apologist, but let's not forget that Rhett saved Manny in 2020 after we couldn't score a point in the bowl game against Louisiana Tech in 2019. Manny and Mario are not a 'trade off' in terms of talent accumulated.

Attacking the DB's is popular as our reason for swiss cheese D, but weak LB play since pedo state tie guy was here has been atrocious and can't be overlooked. Slow, missed tackles, and can't play sideline to sideline or do much beyond blitzing.

Manny would never have made it through 2020 without Lashlee. He brought D’Eriq King and saved Manny’s job. When Lashlee took the SMU job after 2021, we would have been totally screwed with Manny and no offensive coordinator to bail him out.

And that is pathetic and also proves that nothing has really changed with the administration at Miami. Very few, if any, are hoping Mario fails. He does that all on his own. He is not Manny - where people legit rooted against him from the jump because Mario did not get the job. The majority here want wins above anything else and do not really care who the head coach is.

It would be nice for Mario to win. It is a great story. That is in his hands, but as the OP points out, he adds very little value.
This 💯

No idea Mario posted in here.

It will take 20 years to build a house brick by brick, especially if you aren’t a skilled mason.

I was staunchly anti-Mario before the hire but it became clear it was an experiment that was inevitable, the fan base and higher ups just always wanted it. Attitude became **** it lets just get this over with then, see what he's got. The financial commitment and his recruiting was alluring at first, although the product on the field was horrifying.

Just an example of the mental gymnastics exhibited for this guy - we had fans pumped he got blown out by a much less talented Utah team twice because they thought it made him more likely to come here (and do the same ****).

Hopefully this experiment doesn't drag on too long if he can't get his **** together .

You’re right, flaws and all.

To top it off you got some guys who would not be entertaining playing in the bowl game if they were playing at another program or for someone else.

The sky is not falling.
Because they’d be playing in the playoffs?
