A few days ago most people on this thread was saying Wilson was basically a lock to be a Gator. Now that it actually happened all of a sudden it's f*ck Rumph. Yo I know everyone wants to land every recruit but dam y'all be acting real hurt over this sh*t. This site will probably crash after we lose one game smh.
At least let the man show whether he can or can't coach before you fire him. If our db's show significant improvement from Rumph's coaching then I would take that any day over him getting a recruit who never planned on coming here anyway.
Man WTF part don't you get?!?.....people ain't trippin cause he didn't get the commitment, people calling that dumb **** a bum cause he promoted a gaytor commitment
But he wasn't promoting a gaytor committment.
He was promoting a friend's radio show.
Rumph doesn't give a **** were these kids go. He wasn't *****ing when Byrd de-commited.
He wish him the best, and understood that Tennessee was the best place for him if he didn't want to be here.
Rumph must believing in his ability to coach whomever is on his squad.
Has to be the ****tiest attempt to defend failure I have ever seen. He is no longer a high school coach. Because it was a gator commit, he should not have been promoting his friends show. Because this is a big money business and he is getting paid handsomely, he MUST care. The moment Byrd flipped, he became the enemy, and you don't wish the enemy their best. Being classy in the face of defeat on the recruiting trail does not make it any less of a defeat.
And lastly, Rumph has no business believing in his ability to coach whomever, he has only enjoyed success at a private high school, where he has out recruited everyone but STA, and won on talent.
He was brought in for one reason, and one reason only. Recruiting. He did a phenomenal job recruiting local teenagers to his high school, and created an instant connection to a roster loaded with D1 talent.
Dumph may very well turn out to be fine for us. And you'll can be as patient as you like, but the reality of the situation is that he was a reach by Richt, that has not only failed to pay off, is actually an embarrassment. Can't wait to see the excuses, the well wishing, the slack when both Campbell and Surtain sign some where else next year.
For all you Dumph sympathizers, ask your self this: If he was not a former cane, would he be getting the benefit of the doubt to the extent you are all so quick to give? No, he wouldn't. He is a professional, he has a job, and he has failed. It is no longer February, he is now in his 8th month.
