Manny on Joe Rose 10/11

Instead of all the speculative bullshyt that goes on here constantly, here it is from the horses mouth. Not defending Manny in the least, but at least get the facts before making stupid comments.

Just listened and have no issue with what he said.

You guys are lunatics. Short of Manny saying "I suck and the only way to fix this is for me to quit" you guys will complain about what he says.

-roster bloated with upper classmen and dealing with PT is difficult- facts. If guys like Bolden could make an NFL roster they would be gone. Managing PT and keeping the locker room running smoothly is a huge challenge and probably something a first time head coach would struggle with.

-tackling and leveraging issues on the defense- when your DEs are incapable of setting the edge it exposes the lack of speed at LB and you rely on the ankle tacklers crashing down from safety. You cant scheme better tackling mid season. What is Manny supposed to say- "in the off season we should have done more tackling drills and better drills- diving at the rolling doughnut doesn't seem to be paying off"

etc etc-

Manny needs to be fired, the job is too big for him. But I don't blame him for wanting to work toward fixing things.
I think the irrationallity from our fans comes from the fact that we have been hearing narratives like this for 3 years now about how he’s changing this or doing that and then.....come game time our team shows up unprepared, undisciplined, unmotivated, and plays with a complete lack of fundamentals (blocking and tackling). It happens over and over and over again. What I want him to say is we sucked *** in September because we as a staff have failed the kids. Fundamentals can absolutely be taught. If kids don’t execute then you bench them until they prove to you they will. It is simple coaching 101 stuff.

Yeah Manny, there is a scheme for all of that. It's called, firing your *** and hiring a real grown up to coach! I'm Tired of the Frat house atmosphere around the football program. And if it's true that you're (ALLEGEDLY) letting the kids are vape in the locker room, then you totally have lost all control of this program, and there ain't no coming back from that. Just Leave. Trying to be the adult in the room now, will not go over well. You can't be the Dean of Pledges, and the Head Football Coach. It don't work that way.
What's this about vaping?

He’s not wrong in that statement. But you also have to connect the dots that he’s the HC and tackling, communication, and leverage are all daily fundamental drills that also fall on the HC.

Nothing in his statement is wrong for the ‘Defensive coordinator’ but all of those issues fall back to whoever is playing the guys that are playing, who coaches all of those things, and what we practice weekly and how it wasn’t addressed pre-season… the HC. Which just happens to also be your DC.
He’s basically saying that none of the issues with the defense have been my fault. All the plays I’ve called are perfect so no adjustments needed from me. The players need to play better.

SMH no accountability.

Joe, Joe, Joe. Do you know how far the locker room is away from the field? We were tired!

The boys are flying around in practice.

Our players need to be able to execute, Joe.

100%… that’s exactly what I was saying. He’s basically saying there’s nothing wrong with the scheme and it’s all on the players.

No argument. Manny is the problem. I’m not defending him just saying for any of us to expect manny to come on the radio and say, I suck, I ****ed up everything and should be fired is not a realistic expectation.
That’s fair but don’t put it all on the players.

100% but those players are not without blame. Manny can’t make them catch or tackle. These kids need to take some personal accountability for what they do on the field and off to make them better players. And manny or more importantly the next guy needs to provide them the tools with which to make themselves better.

Okay so we were celebrating the seniority of the team all through the preseason. Now it's a bloated roster because because the older players can't play an are upset at the younger players taking time away from the older players. Prior seasons it was because our older players were leaving early, and we had to relied on the younger players. Wow, its dam if you do, and dam if you don't

This is a crap take. There are other rosters out there that are bloated with upper classmen like we have right now.

It's becoming an issue now as some of the guys coming back that have been in this program for years, are still not contributing and displaying efficiency. Some of the underclassmen are already surpassing them. Manny has allowed a sense of entitlement to build up for years and he's developed a habit of playing upperclassmen, regardless of performance, which he's now recognized that he needs to try something new in playing the new kids or else he knows his path to failure is imminent.

This all goes back to Manny. He developed this culture. And now he's getting what he deserves.
correct every post game Don Bailey complained about Miami not having enough 4 and 5th year players.

I hate that I have backed myself into a corner where I’m defending Diaz who I WANT FIRED.

But I just keep going back to this. Forget the past. In today’s interview what could manny say that wouldn’t have the fan base ****ed. I’d argue the only answers acceptable to our fan base is I suck and need to be fired.
"I take accountability for all that's gone wrong. Obviously what I am doing isn't working. I have to evaluate myself and make sure how I am running things is sound. It is all my responsibility and I am accountable for it."

Something like that.

Good answer.

Honest question. Has a head coach ever been that honest and candid?

His loyalty to the seniors was pretty obvious but it's not too late to fix that.

Give half of Harris' snaps to Knighton.
Give half of Harley's snaps to Restrepo.
Give all of McCloud's snaps to Chantz.
Give half of Mallory's snaps to Arroyo.
Give all of Johnson's snaps to Roberts.
Give all of Ford's snaps to Taylor.
Give all of Jennings' snaps to Cave.
Give all of Bolden's snaps to JW.
Give all of Hall's snaps to Kinchens/Avantae
Give all of Carter's snaps to Chase.
Give all of Ivey's snaps to Clarke.
