Manny Navarro on Guidry

Any names of potential candidates? No teams seem to have a great DC and Manny at Duke isn't available. Especially no DC in the ACC aspires to greatness, how about Indiana Bryant Haines? or ND Al Golden....both have top 5 defenses.
Manny has never been a great DC.......

the rumor is that Kam and Williams went off script to cover up the scheme deficiencies
You talking about the same Kam who went off script for the final play against GT last year? The one when he tried to make a pick and got beat for the GW TD?
I'm struggling to see how that "covered up the scheme deficiencies."

Their "logic" goes all the way back to 2001 when they claimed that Ken Dorsey coached the offense.

They definitely would go off script.....running from 20 yards back towards the QB scrambling while leaving a guy wide open for 50 yard gains

I just can't with some of these takes. Some people seem to pull thoughts from the inner reaches of their bowels, then post said thoughts as though they're gospel. How can any reasonably sane person actually believe that crap?

Glad this is coming out while we are literally in a playoff run and in the midst of the best season in 20 years.
what exactly is "coming out?" this is manny navarro speculating in response to a mailbag question and delivering a response that is obvious to everyone paying attention, not someone in the organization leaking something of substance.

We are not taking the next step as a program with a d coordinator who is schematically as flawed as Guidry. Mario knows that and will make decisions accordingly. If he’s shown one thing in his mediocre tenure here it’s that he will move on from coaches in a respectful manner by allowing them to get a job. Guidry will be the same when that time comes. My guess is it’s this year unless the bye week was truly a wake up call
Fair analysis

For the x's and o's guys, did Guidry have scheme issues last year, or trouble having his personnel align properly?

Last year it seemed like he was the talk of the board because he was available to overcome the many injuries the defense suffered, and in doing so kept the team in many games despite TVD's inability to function as a QB

If I may opine- Guidry had a NFL caliber safety list year who could erase a lot of mistakes. Would be interesting to see last year's film and this year's film to figure out if the scheme is the same, difference is that Kinchens could usually stop the busted plays from being TDs, even when UM's D alignment was as bad as it has been this year. This isn't using talent as an excuse- even if the D doesn't have a NFL quality safeties, it should not be this bad.

I realize I lean to the side of the Slurpers, but is this little nugget really necessary? Technically, you're not wrong and we can both manipulate the statistics to "prove" that to this point, he has indeed been mediocre. However, in doing so, it would require us to omit the trajectory of the program and culture.
Before you reply with the canned "If we didn't have Cam Ward, we would be 3-7" hyperbole (I just hyperbole'ed a hyperbole there - hope you caught that!), I am well aware that our defense sucks and has sucked all year. I am also well aware that Cam is awesome and has carried the team. My point is about the excess negativity that's come out amongst a fair share of our fans. I find the people who find the negative in everything generally suck in life. I'm not accusing you of this by any stretch - it's my own hang up. I'm simply stating why I get annoyed with the over-the-top negativity exuding from some people on here. It's like listening to Veruca Salt demand things NOW!
