Well, yeah.So Lincoln Riley, the QB guru, pushed a multi-year starter in Malachi Nelson away for a 1 year starter in Howard. But you think that Malachi is better?
He has more stars next to his name in highschool.

A Nasty game SMHIt's an awfully quick falling out for a player who had been committed to a HC for so long.
He committed to Oklahoma and in July of 2021
He decommitted from OU the same day Riley was announced as USC's HC
He committed to USC 2 days later
He stayed committed for another year and didn't take any other official visits
He enrolls at USC in March and hits the portal 9 months later
You'd have to think.. either he was under the impression (promised?) he was taking over for Williams and felt lied to. Or Riley told him its not working out (for any number of reasons).
He was a consensus 5* and ESPN's #1 overall player. Riley wouldn't just tell him to kick rocks. Rattler to Williams isn't the same. Rattler got his chance. He was passed up by a guy who had early NFL draft pick written all over him.
Also, I wouldn't pay much attention to Nelson's spring game highlights. He had only been on campus for a month when he played in that game.
Wait, Riley, a QB guru, wants Howard? Said from day 1 give me Howard over Ward...Riley wants a Veteran QB this year and his guy might be Will Howard which scares me
I do not prefer any QB to another just want 1 haha. But when they both pick else where bring me KJWait, Riley, a QB guru, wants Howard? Said from day 1 give me Howard over Ward...
Has a p5 or pro qb ever recovered and been as good after labrum surgery?
Isn’t that why Andre Luck retired?
It is the torn cartilage that is the killer. Bone on bone is the worst and there is no cartilage replacement as far as I know yet. A dislocated shoulder usually stretches out the connective tissues where they have to tighten them out with anchors to get the slack out and keep them tight. They reattach the labrum which breaks when the bone pops out of socket. I have had four shoulder operations and three on my throwing shoulder. The cartilage is gone and next is a shoulder replacement.Drew Brees
Saints legend Drew Brees says he'd still be playing had it not been for 2005 shoulder injury
Brees last played in January of 2021 when New Orleans fell to Tampa Bay in the playoffswww.cbssports.com
I've had both shoulders reconstructed. Right needs a new shoulder at some point but I'm going to hold off as long as I can. Left, bicep was attached to bone last summer so hopefully it is good for 10-20 years. It is the torn cartilage that is the killer. Yup, and that's why supergenius Nick Saban went with Duante Culpepper instead.Drew Brees

Not that every school has immediate need for a starter, but you’d think a QB with a consensus 5* ranking only a year ago would have a better list.
I remember Josh Pate saying in a show that Malachi was FAR from being ready to play. Made it seem like he wasn't as good as advertised.USC fans claim he was 3rd/4th on the depth chart before he got injured.
