This is the Ezekiel Elliot recruitment to a tee. He was the Missouri hero and they were begging him to stay and he almost did but OSU was always the leader and even arter the monster last push from the home team he went with his heart. There's nothing thy could tell McFarland that he doesn't already know they can just play into making him feel guilty but the smart kids with smart parents makes the toughest decision of the kids life the decision that he believes in not the one that others try to force onto him

I was in College Park about six months ago. Haven't been there in years. Just don't see the attraction, especially going through the cold winters. Not as bad as some places but it can be pretty dreary in the D.C. area during the winter, especially at that old cow college.

agree. i did my undergrad at maryland and i went back when we played maryland 5 years ago. i found college park to be very disappointing. recently was in ann arbour and you can't compare. maryland is close to DC and thats a plus.

I think that would be a dumb way to handle this....too hostile. We have a good relationship, have to work on that, not set ultimatums for this kid. Maybe with some, but not here. Needs reassurance and support from Coach Brown. Play on the bond, the closeness, the trust. You threaten, you destroy that.

An then if this strees to the dead period then UM is left with whom as the back plan?

Where as Cordarrian Richardson is looking for a school. I hear what your saying about the relationship part but this McFarland has had months to hatch out his feelings about UM vs UMD.

Also if he got a Bama offer do you think this bull**** would be happening, **** no he would give his coach the two fingers douce an be on his way Tuscaloosa.

I honestly feel that McFarland won't succumb to the knee jerk reaction which he had last night.

I think he felt like he owed it to his High School coach to at least give it some thought, which I can't blame him.

At the end of the day, I think he's going to do what he feels is best for his career and honestly, Miami is where he will "secure the bag" for him and his family.

Maryland just has not produced backs that go to the NFL and have great careers and he knows that.

Yeah it's an absolutely stupid way of handling it. Trying to use another rb that has grade problems as leverage is comical. Richardson's school was investigated for grade fixing this year. They were cleared by the school board but the football coach was still briefly suspended afterwards for being dishonest.

Clemson fans were saying that he was dropped because of grades so there may be some truth to it because of the investigation.

I think Miami & Brown lock him up. If he already had a video to go to announce for Miami, I think he'll stick with it.

BUT - I do think if we lose him, it won't be a huge loss. I'm not as high on him as most for a variety of reasons. I think he can be a home run hitter, sort of a fast version of Mark Walton, but I definitely don't see him in the same league as someone like Duke Johnson.

I think that's recency effect. Duke was on a whole other level.

- Duke ran for as many yards and TD's in his HS Soph season as McFarland did his entire HS career.
- Duke ran for more yards and TD's (on less carries) in HS, than McFarland and Walton combined.

I think because he hasn't had a great pro career, it's easier to forget how rare and special Duke was. McFarland can be really good, but isn't the same level of talent IMO.

Duke is in absolutely the worst offense for him. He needs to get out of Cleveland as soon as possible

Duke would kill it in New England style offense or is SF if Shanahan goes there to become coach. He knows how to use RB like Duke who can catch out of the backfield

It's going to be Maryland. Tough decision for the kid. Some kids troll and showboat but this kid is genuinely going through an agonizing decision making process. Best of luck to him wherever he goes but I think there's too much hometown pressure here.

There's no more harsh pressure than Maryland football pressure. That's an iconic program.

That would include tremendous negative recruiting relative to crime, etc. in the Miami area.

There is just as much crime where McFarland lives
