MacFarland to Maryland!

Snooped around maryland boards and left happy.

From my understanding, last night the MD staff put one final full court press and tried to guilt him into staying home. Anthony got anxious and guilty about his decision and really stressed so his dad recommended he push it another 48 hours so his son would calm down.

Whoever says his dad is pro-MD is lying. The dad loves Brown and trusts Rick, I think he just wanted his son to be more calm before the decision.

FWIW, very little people on MD boards believe anything will change, he still comin' here.

His pops is a miami fan.

At least he got drafted, unlike Allen Hurns.

Kid just needs to look at Diggs' career. All-world, 5 star receiver commits to hometown school Maryland, he does ok for three years, gets taken in the 5th round and blows up again in the NFL. Everyone who followed high school recruiting knew the kid was a beast, his supporting cast just sucked at MD. Should have been a 2nd rounder. Choosing Maryland over us cost that kid millions.

Diggs went the same year as Dorsett, Dorsett went in the first, Diggs the fifth.

Exactly, let's compare apples to apples. Although even Dorsett wasn't the prospect Diggs was coming out of high school. Allen Hurns is a perfect example of a 3 star south Florida recruit that we turn into a $40 million NFL player.

Here is my take on this for AMAC's decision. I can't believe we haven't had a "soft shouldered" or "savage " comment in this thread but I am still holding out hope for it.

Not a hard decision fellas.

Can you give me some details on why you think Maryland ihas better facilities in Miami? Asking for a friend.

The reason is just from all the information over the years with recruits etc. Miami has lacked on the facilities for a while. I know they have a new players lounge and the IPF is coming but until then I still believe we are behind in that area. I don't have facts, it was just my opinion. I don't mean to get anyone's dander up.

I honestly feel that McFarland won't succumb to the knee jerk reaction which he had last night.

I think he felt like he owed it to his High School coach to at least give it some thought, which I can't blame him.

At the end of the day, I think he's going to do what he feels is best for his career and honestly, Miami is where he will "secure the bag" for him and his family.

Maryland just has not produced backs that go to the NFL and have great careers and he knows that.

A list with the kids that have spurned Miami due to "facilities" would be great, thanks in advance.

On another note I can certainly understand why a kid would find it more important to have unlimited access to xbox as opposed to, you know...playing in the NFL.

This.

Again, his dad knows where the bag will be secured....not worried.

I think Miami & Brown lock him up. If he already had a video to go to announce for Miami, I think he'll stick with it.

BUT - I do think if we lose him, it won't be a huge loss. I'm not as high on him as most for a variety of reasons. I think he can be a home run hitter, sort of a fast version of Mark Walton, but I definitely don't see him in the same league as someone like Duke Johnson.

hes better than both imo.......way higher ceiling

I think that's recency effect. Duke was on a whole other level.

- Duke ran for as many yards and TD's in his HS Soph season as McFarland did his entire HS career.
- Duke ran for more yards and TD's (on less carries) in HS, than McFarland and Walton combined.

I think because he hasn't had a great pro career, it's easier to forget how rare and special Duke was. McFarland can be really good, but isn't the same level of talent IMO.

Coach Brown needs to be on the phone to 2017 RB Cordarrian Richardson from Memphis, TN. He has a top 3 of Ole Miss , Oregon, and UCF. Miami needs to bring him for a OV, if nothing else to send a message to McFarland that if your looking so are we.

Ole Miss can't pay out while the ncaa is up their butt, and Oregon is a dumpster fire with all their coaching problems.

Report: 4-star RB Cordarrian Richardson gives Ole Miss ’90-percent chance’ at landing commitment

Cordarrian Richardson is the highest-rated uncommitted running back in the nation, and Ole Miss has a good chance at landing him.

A 90-percent chance, to be exact.

“(Ole Miss needing a running back) plays a good role,” Richardson told Ole Miss Spirits’ Ben Garrett. “Ole Miss has a 90-percent chance.”

The 4-star running back from Trezevant High School (Memphis, Tenn.) took an official visit to Oxford this weekend and came away impressed. He told Garrett that the main factors working in the Rebels’ favor are the proximity to home and his relationship with the coaching staff.

Richardson boasts 25 reported offers, including Oregon, Michigan State, Clemson, Alabama and Florida State, among others. He told Garrett that his final three are Ole Miss, Oregon and UCF.

The 6-foot, 200-pound recruit is ranked as the nation’s No. 10 running back, the No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee and the country’s No. 160 prospect overall.

The Rebels do not hold a running back commitment in their 2017 class, and will look to replace their leading rusher in senior Akeem Judd.

Richardson was committed to Clemson for nearly nine months before de-committing in December.

Duke is in absolutely the worst offense for him. He needs to get out of Cleveland as soon as possible

So you're basing an opinion on facilities with zero knowledge of either school's facilities and no facts to back up your opinion.

I was in College Park about six months ago. Haven't been there in years. Just don't see the attraction, especially going through the cold winters. Not as bad as some places but it can be pretty dreary in the D.C. area during the winter, especially at that old cow college.

Just don't see it.

The Schwartz Center completed in 2013 neutralized that argument. Stop perpetuating the myth.

How about you stop saying what the coaches should or shouldn't be doing.

I think that would be a dumb way to handle this....too hostile. We have a good relationship, have to work on that, not set ultimatums for this kid. Maybe with some, but not here. Needs reassurance and support from Coach Brown. Play on the bond, the closeness, the trust. You threaten, you destroy that.

If the kid truly wants to be at Miami, then in 48 hrs he will commit to Miami. I think taking the couple of days is better for us if this is where he truly wants to be.
