Maason Smith 2.0

We can’t compete with them sec bags !
Mom is reportedly a doctor so don't think bags will play a part in this one. Which means UGA isn't a real player...3 team race with hometown LSU, Bama NFL factory allure (But Saban retirement smoke hurts this), and our Canes which is easily the best fit for him which he's said on multiple occasions.

If there's a year, this is the year....I say we land him.

This is the best bet for certain. Anything can happen, and people will bring up Seantrel, Brevin... whoever, but we whiff on most.

I’d like to think that the kid makes a scheme fit decision with long term career implications but it’s hard to be encouraged when you see a kid like Darnell Washington go to UGA last year.
Darnell had grown man family responsibilities before he even graduated from high school, so UGA wasn't surprising at all for obvious reasons. I say Bama or Miami, which still doesn't look good on paper lol...but like said if there's a year for it to happen, this is the year. He picks our hat and the internet EXPLODES

It’s a rumor that he’s done after this season.
One of my best friends is Tide Pride (their Golden Cane) and his dad is tied in with the program otherwise. He said Saban will be there for 4-5 more years while we were chatting this weekend. That aside, I can't see him retiring after this weird season with no fans in the stadium.

Sabans retiring says who?
I should've screenshot the tweet but it was a reputable reporter...and the tweets that followed weren't disputing the tweet, it was all arguing about who the best replacement would be...I'll stop there because I don't want to derail this thread

we get a lot of #1 kids

Kyle wright, seantrel henderson, jaelen philipps, dj williams, jesse armstead and others

Besides, we got a firm commitment from the #2 DT so why can't we can't #1?

IDK about this young man but if he took the time to include us in his final 5 then we got a chance. ****, he might not even know where he's ging right now.

Miami has been on him the longest of anyone. Pretty sure Baker was the first person to offer him when Baker was the DC at La Tech. Plus he does say it’s the best scheme fit.

But being realistic the best player in Louisiana never leaves the state. And if he does, it’s for Bama

I don't see it happening. As soon as lsu, ala, georgia get the feeling close to his signing that he wants to come here they would basically throw an offer he can't refuse. D tackle is a position that wins championships and $ec isn't letting him go to UM

If you listen to the pod @DMoney has insinuated he's not that type of kid. Give Maason the benefit of the doubt. And there are more reasons to go to Bama than bags.

We didn't sign either. We lucked into them because of other factors

We did sign Seantrel Henderson out of HS. He was released from his USC LOI and we signed him shortly thereafter. This is not unlike how we signed Kellen Winslow.

Jaelan Phillips was an actual transfer.

He hasn’t been here since 2019 paradise camp if I remember correctly. It’s going to be hard to convince me he’s genuinely interested when he hasn’t been here in over a year and he has taken trips to his other contenders on his own dime.

Its not the fact that schools like LSU and Alabama produce R1 players at a rate unlike any other, its the bags.

C'mon, bruh. I'm not saying they aren't a part of the equation, but they aren't the only part, and IMO, they are a small part of it.

Send him one of those little sand in a bottle tourist trinkets from a gift store. The kind with like a boat in it, or a starfish. Along with a card signed by some pretty girls on a beach. Along with selfies by them. Along with some kissy marks. And a 'come see us.'

Bo’s defense isn’t a fit there. It’s like Golden trying to do a read and react and UM.

it isn't a fit with what they have right now, but he was lsu's dc on the 07 title team (although that was the ****iest year in college ball and they won a ring with 2 losses). they had the #3 overall defense all 3 years that he was there.
