Ya it is a tough predicament to be in. He did make it to the big game, but hasn't sniffed it since. Pretty interesting to watch teams like that from the outside.

They may have to be patient. **** I wouldn't mind that for the years he been there. Always contending sending elite players to the league that recognize your brand. Jobs at the Benz plant, new house, etc is all on deck. We fiscally can't compete with Bama or UGA for that matter.

I don't have that much of a problem with Clemson & Oklahoma getting some elite prospects, they're really not as egregious as the Bama's & UGA's etc of the world, they get their fair share of top prospects but they're not really that greedy.

The only thing that bugs me about OH St is they strictly recruit OOS for their DB's.

But Bama & UGA are really the worst of the worst, they ruin recruiting with the way they suffocate college football with their blatant cheating. The playing field just needs to be evened to make it fun again on the recruiting trail.

I foresee a long-form *insert sports media outlet here* article written in the next 5-10 years entitled "How Alabama and Georgia Ruined College Football".

I don’t know where Mason Smith is going to end up. But I sure as **** know he likely ain’t going to LSU.
I posted that the boosters and other people in their administration we’re not going to allow that ship to sink. Unfortunately even the titanic hit a big enough iceberg. They are down to less than 70 scholarship players at this point and are at risk of losing even more and recruits are bouncing. We were very lucky that during the golden era transferring wasn’t really that much of an option as it is now. I said on another thread or maybe earlier on here that what was happening at LSU is very similar and smells just like what was going on in Miami after onion and this video kind of proves my point

it's ironic because there isn't a single recruiting site or reporter that ever mentions the CAnes as a threat for SMith. I'm not complaining; I prefer it that way. These schools know we cannot compete with the bag size so the less they know about where Miami is in a recruitment, the better off we are.

Kirby has the same MO every cycle; start off slow, lots of innuendo by their recruiting sites about "silent commits" and then the last two weeks they bag up a few big fish.

UGA and Smith isn’t new. Their insiders have been confident on him for months which means the size of the bag has already been well discussed for a while now. LSU falling off just made it easier for the kid to say yes imo

"Confidence" does not equate to a bag. The Gaytors were "confident" on LT for over a year, he picked Miami, and there were no bags involved.

I agree with you on the LSU issue, but let's not presume a payoff is occurring simply because the kid is highly ranked. I'm not saying that it is NOT happening, just that I think it is incorrect to assume it is happening.

Georgia makes sense, even for non-monetary reasons. It's not far from home, it's still SEC country, it is close to a great city that has some good med schools (mom is a doc), etc.

Smith is smart and his family isn't broke. Maybe he'll take a bag, but maybe he doesn't need to take a bag, he may just want to play in the SEC.

Kirby doesn't deserve that title. Its not that hard to look at which kids have 5 stars next to their names and have your boosters open up their pocket books for them. **** level the playing field at Bama and things would likely look a lot different too. Those cats aren't out there finding diamonds in the rough.

LSU may or may not get hit by sanctions. LSU has nose dived quickly into the abyss. Ed O somehow put a team together that you could say came close to the 01 Canes last year. With Coker, our fall was steady and progressed to mediocrity. Ed O nose dived into that area not even a year removed from a title. O's a corch who got lucky that LSU splurged on Aranda and that he found Brady.

Which one of the 5 qbs they’ve played this year (or portal qb X) will be turning into joe burrow over the summer?

I’m not saying we are 2019 lsu, but neither is 2020-2021 lsu. In fact, if king and the Vegas boys decide to run it back, 2021 Miami is probably closer to 2019 lsu than 2021 lsu is.

The “don’t do it to yourselves” crowd cracks me up. Why can’t we do it to ourselves? How does that affect you? We have 2 5 stars committed already at the top of a great class, are in play for other big time prospects, are 8-1 and ranked in the top 10. His home state school is very publicly following apart. He very well may not come here but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he does.

And if he doesn’t, then we move on and be happy about the fantastic class that we are still going to be bringing in. There is legit smoke here and has been for awhile but nobody should be slitting their wrists if he doesn’t come. If he does though? Oh boy.

This is what makes the recruiting season fun if you aren’t incredibly soft.

I am pinning my hopes on President Dwayne Johnson getting elected in 2024. I think he will get the IRS on the case and put an end to Bama and UGA buying players.
