Luke Nickel state semifinal HL

This. There is a difference. Not many have both and the ability to process the game quickly.
Processing the game quickly is the one area most people don’t talk about. But it’s as important than anything physically. He also has great anticipation, anccuracy and touch . The cherry on top is he has enough wheels to extend plays and move the chains if nobody comes open. Lastly he possesses all the intangibles you’d want.

He’s going to be a good one .

He reminds me of Aaron Murray.

Was in Atlanta for work (planned travel accordingly) and made the trip to see the game with a few friends that are HC and OC in Georgia.

3rd time I’ve seen Nickel live and he’s better every time. This time it was just clearly more vocal leadership traits and looked like he had more juice on the fastball than I remember. That thing was hopping out of his hand.

Langston isn’t great on defense but they’ve had some decent showings and this is just unreal domination. Shredding them. The OC says he’s the best QB he’s seen in person (live) in Georgia HS in a decade (didn’t see Trevor live and the last one better that he saw was Watson).

While here, my friend who is a HC was texting a few schools and got a text back from a Georgia recruiting staffer that said something along the lines of ‘can’t believe we let this kid leave the state and they should have pushed late when they got Wiley’ and really hyped Dawson for identity him in their back yard way before they did and mentioned him identifying Mac Jones and Stetson Bennett in past jobs and said he might have the best eye for under the radar QBs in the country right now. Also mentioned “the QB committed in 2026” (Coleman) fitting the mold.

Other teams are taking notice and aware of what Dawson is doing.
We must keep Dawson! Let him be next HC here

Murray/ Howell mold. Poor man Bo Nix.
Auburn Bo Nix makes my point one hundred fold on situation and scheme dictating most qb’s careers. There’s only a handful of sure things that would be successful no matter the situation.

Cats out the bag. Georgia knows they screwed letting him out of state. Love that Nickel is loyal. But we must keep him satisfied with NIL. Schools will definitely tamper him with the portal. Especially Georgia with his wr teammate there

Georgia signed a 4-star from Ohio. Definitely glad to have Nickel, but not sure Georgia ever showed serious interest. They briefly flirted with JuJu Lewis after USC decommitment and signing with Colorado.

Agreed, and it's insane to me.

Every hall of fame caliber quarterback is able to process the game at an extremely high level. Aside from maybe Terry Bradshaw lol

Not every hall of fame quarterback had great physical tools. Recent (soon to be) examples--Brees, Brady, Manning--were all lacking in multiple physical traits.

Obviously it's nice to have both, but I find that even really smart people miss the forest for the trees with QB prospects. Why is why IMO scouting the QB position is the most overthought aspect of football.

We should be trying to find kids who have what it takes between the ears and working on their physical development, rather than the other way around.

No he doesn’t

I would have said it was an average arm until tonight. The kid has a better arm than anybQB on our roster right now. I’d say he walks in as a freshman in the 70+ percentile for arm strength in the country. Probably in the 90+ percentile for accuracy/placement

Some of these people either aren't keeping up on his development this season or they are diminishing his arm because of his touch passes.

The way the ball comes out of his hand at 1:18 and 1:36 in the OP's highlights shows above-average arm strength. They're also very well-placed passes. Add it to his anticipation, toughness in the pocket, solid mobility, and leadership traits and he looks like one of the best QBs we've recruited out of HS in the last 20 years.

He had one incompletion in the state ship with over 400 yards passing. He could have had over 600 yards but they were scoring too fast and had to slow the game down. Milton is 8 miles from my house. I have watch this kid every since he commited. Since that time he has grown in almost every aspect. His arm strength, his accuracy, his ability to scan the entire field, his trigger, decision making, his running and his leadership. He is so miles better than his elite 11 days.

I also watched Jake Garcia as much as possible as well being out of Georgia and the fact that they rated Jake at a 94 and Luke at a 89 is laughable,. They are not even in the same class of a QB., I see the Aaron Murray comparisons but with his throwing motion, confidence and ability to pick up some yards on the ground I see Sam Howell. Luke is a probably a little bigger and better at this point in their career.

There is no way this kid isn't a 5 star. I don't see a kid on this roster beating him out next year. If we dont get a heisman candidate in the portal Luke will be our QB. If the front end of the schedule was a little more favorable I could see him starting day 1.

Lol there’s a guy in another thread saying Air Noland is better

Just got a “Tim Tebow but a more polished passer” comp out of the announcers lmao
That announcer needs to have his credentials revoked immediately. To say a BIT more polished passer implies shebow bothered to polish up anything but *****. Dudes passing game was a gimmick and nothing else. He could throw a deep ball and jack **** else with continuous accuracy. Nickel is a FAR better passer at this point with a long way to go. Kids accurate at all phases from what I've seen.
