Luke Nickel state semifinal HL

Was in Atlanta for work (planned travel accordingly) and made the trip to see the game with a few friends that are HC and OC in Georgia.

3rd time I’ve seen Nickel live and he’s better every time. This time it was just clearly more vocal leadership traits and looked like he had more juice on the fastball than I remember. That thing was hopping out of his hand.

Langston isn’t great on defense but they’ve had some decent showings and this is just unreal domination. Shredding them. The OC says he’s the best QB he’s seen in person (live) in Georgia HS in a decade (didn’t see Trevor live and the last one better that he saw was Watson).

While here, my friend who is a HC was texting a few schools and got a text back from a Georgia recruiting staffer that said something along the lines of ‘can’t believe we let this kid leave the state and they should have pushed late when they got Wiley’ and really hyped Dawson for identity him in their back yard way before they did and mentioned him identifying Mac Jones and Stetson Bennett in past jobs and said he might have the best eye for under the radar QBs in the country right now. Also mentioned “the QB committed in 2026” (Coleman) fitting the mold.

Other teams are taking notice and aware of what Dawson is doing.

Good as advertised, but most impressive was the zip on ball.
 
Who’s the last QB we had come in that did this kind of winning in high school? Has it been since Jacory? Obviously there’s a lot more that goes into it, but I’ve always thought a qb consistently winning at the high school level was almost a pre-req for success going forward.

Luke was incredible tonight but Langston played timid and didn’t challenge Milton’s offense at all.

Receivers had free releases all night, simple cover 3 blown coverages and horrendous tackling.

I'm very impressed by him too. The kid has all the tools to be a great one. If we don't sign a top QB out of the portal, it wouldn't surprise me to see Luke be our QB1 next year. He is that good.

For those who haven't seen him play, he reminds me of Josh Allen.

True, but he made some great throws into some very tight coverage too. It wasn't just pitch and catch all night.

I also liked how he didn't dance around in the pocket waiting for a big play. He checked it down multiple times. When the pocket broke down he had a great feel on when to pull it down and pick up yardage with his feet.

Was thinking more Kaaya in cali got alot of love on here. Garcia was another. Nkosi and Jarren were hyped on here so I will give you that.. Still cant believe Malik started two seasons here, we were not a serious program, dude was g5 status. Judd looks like he is never playing here.
