When the best defensive player in the country signs with you and then enrolls somewhere else, it's devastating. This guy is a Patrick Peterson-type talent and will haunt FSU the same way Peterson has haunted us.

I see where you coming from you and I just disagree on how good Thomas is going to be. I dont even think he was the best defensive player in the state last year. Plus you dont want a kid that doesnt want to be there

I could understand you possibly making the case that Hargreaves was a better defensive player, but in terms of talent and how they impact a game. Thomas is leagues beyond everyone in Florida in the way he impacts games, guy is making every single play

Well it matters what you project him to if he is a SAM then I have a long list of players that I think will have more productive college careers from the state of Florida. If you think he is a hybrid DE/OLB you might have a case. I dont value the SAM backer that much. I would put DE DT CB over that positon

I think he's more of a MLB than a SLB... He just does everything right! He rushes the passer, sheds blockers and makes tackles, and is even comfortable in coverage. You put players like this in the middle and let them reek havoc. Once he gets in a college weightroom, he should grow into one **** of a LB. It's not a huge loss this year cause he SHOULD redshirt, but it may hurt in a couple years.

One thing is for sure tho, USC was recruiting him after NSD...

Hes just gonna have to go juco or prep for a year if Im not mistaken. He'll want to be recruited again anyway with Kiffin possibly not being there

Matthew Thomas was suppose to be a crown jewel for our class... its a big deal and its bad for FSU..it wont be the end of them but its a nice kick in the nuts to them!

Matthew Thomas wouldve been the "crown jewel" of our class b/c we need elite lbs... but this pipe dream of him actually coming to Miami was just that.

Also a lot of FSU fans were more upset about losing Stacy Coley then landing Matthew Thomas b/c they believe they are loaded at lb.

This situation is only a big deal b/c it is ongoing.... once it is settled, FSU is still going to sign a top 10 class.

I agree that its better for us for him to be at USCw though b/c of the fact that he is a kid from BTW.

I believe he has to sit out 2 years if they don't release him from his scholarship. Same thing happened to Brandon Warren when he left F$U for Tennessee if I recall.

I hope you are right D-Dinero because F$U is starting to annoy me right now. But as far as talent goes, i am not sold on MT's ceiling one bit. He has chicken legs and is not a physical specimen by no means. I just dont see him that explosive in films. He runs kind of high and doesnt show that burst to make him the best LB in the nation IMO. Look at this kid -Foster from Bama, Good lord. Now, that's a LB . Thomas does not look like a player that can come in right away and make a splash like P.Peterson did as a fr. MT has some work to do before we can even mention him in the same sentence as PP.

Im no film expert but I agree with this, when u watch MT film its not over whelming the way people say he is a mega star. I see a athletic kid that needs work but I never seen him live so D? and Ariz did hype him up and sometimes u gotta trust those guys since they saw him live. I think he will be good but not no superstar, time will tell.
Agree Foster looks like a boss even the kid young that we just got from GA looks better (going off hilight film)

Whats funny is u gotta read the BS on MT signing day video on youtube, the comments say Coley was crying because his mom did not want him at FSU and forced him to Miami. Alot of butthurt Noles in that piece.

Matt Thomas could not choose a better school to **** over FSU. Kiffin is horrendous. They have virtually no effect on our program outside of a recruit hear or there. This is huge. MT is a difference maker and regardless of my feelings towards him, I am happy we don't have to face him.
