Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

You cited 6-7 other backs he would have to contend with but those backs have had injury issues, have not anything on the field as of now or unproven. Assuming he's looking at elite P5 programs, which program is going to promise him a starting job now for him to lose? He's getting some bad advise.
Doubt it. 3 (Parrish, Fletch, Ajay) are proven and 2 of those are already ahead of him on depth chart. He's seen Citizen and CJ at practice and sees what we have coming in.

And who says he's looking for elite P5 programs? He wants to start and wants to get paid. How many P5 programs have 6-7 4-star backs you will compete against? Plenty of low or mid-tier P5 program would promise him RB1/2 role and pay him good NIL.

Don’t know why y’all didn’t bring these 2 up. Here’s our starting center and another LB to add. That kid George is not only an upgrade over Flagg but he was all over the field vs. FSU.

I don't see us bringing a portal LB with all the young LBs on the team that need to start getting playing time or they will too hit the portal.
If that’s our mindset, we’ll never be UGA or Bama. We’ll never be back at all.

You take good football players, and you let the cream rise to the top. Freshmen LBs may be talented, but hardly any of them have sniffed the field.

This kid has and has excelled in the best conference in America. 2024 can’t rely on potential. No brainer imo, especially with Flagg and Cloyd gone. But I’m sure this kid will have plenty of suitors.

Please tell me we don’t lose George.
All the more reason to move quick on a portal QB. If it drags on too long, guys like George are gonna bolt before they put their future in jeopardy… unless he really trusts Emory.

That’s about the only concern on George, Restrepo, and Young. I could see an NFL draft entry before those 3 transfer.

Running backs are easily replaceable he was a jag
100% not a jag. Very underutilized and had injury bug unfortunately. Also, we had a guy name Lucious taking carries last year so I wouldn’t be so quick to run off talented backs. Lastly, as Cribby noted some big programs are interested. Not a jag.

Everybody
Still think he's the best back on the team, well former team
He's gonna be playing on Sundays
Why?

He's already had two season-ending injuries that resulted 13 carries total over two seasons. He was never the feature back in either of the two seasons where he saw significant action. He's already going to be 22 this school year and 23 by the 2025 draft. If he's not the feature back and fully healthy next year, he won't be drafted. If he requires a 6th year (likely), then he'll be 24 by draft day at the most fungible position in the league.

Chaney has a steep uphill climb to be an NFL player.

My biggest concern at the moment. First domino was Van Dyke hopping into the portal. Need to move FAST with the portal QB this year. Identify your guy and make it happen.
