Leonard Taylor committing 8/6

I was on the gata board and there is a poster down there who has some juice confirming something is going on down here. However that wasn't the interesting part of his post. The interesting part of the post is about a QB who there is talk of us getting. The rest of the gata porsters said Garcia and Vadergriff and the dude who started the convo said neither of those two were the QBs he was hearing........Preston Stone was the name he was hearing

HOLY SWEET BABY JEBUS....WHAT A TIME TO BE A CANES FAN
I'm getting Tipsy.....Drinking a Vanilla,Coffee Porter....

Oh i get it. At this moment how can one doubt everything. I mean two weeks ago we were in the dumps then Cribby's corner came out and.......BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM look at what is going on.

Are you the one that lives in Cortez village? I used to keep my boat up there. Miss the boating and fishing up there.

Crazy how the flood gates seem to have just opened. I am hoping all the JW hype gets other kids just as interested. I am the one in Coz. Red tide wiped out some of the inshore fishing recently, mullet and stone crab seasons were not up to par, but off shore bite and just general enjoyment level still rollin' hot.

Crown @TimeB0mb then. He theorized it because of the TX connects. I had a hard time seeing it. Dad is a big time SMU booster.

I'm not going to hold my breath for Stone, but let's not forget those twins who were THIRD GENERATION Longhorns choosing NOT to go to Texas.

Crazy ****e could happen.

yea i would come out right under cortez bridge next to Annies and i forget the place across from Annies...Sea Queen or something. Loved going to Jewfish just about every weekend. Still go there for adult days tho hahaha. The fishing was always great there. I would post up where the channel splits right before jewfish and slay trout and all kinds of goodies there.

I agree. I remember when you were describing the family ties to SMU. I also just read about his wanting to commit to UT and his dad said NO! hahahah. That's great.

However if there is a guy who can pull it off......i think it's Lashlee. SMU and Miami are pretty similar institutions i would have to imagine.

Except for the M part (Methodist).

Pops definitely didn't want him to go to Texas, last year on an UV Preston tried to commit to Herman on the spot & his dad flat out told him no.

I think dads usually want what's best for their kids. Stone's pops obviously had to have liked Lashlee. So when Lashlee left I'm sure they were wondering who would replace him. Lincoln Riley's kid brother just has the family name but no accomplishments as an OC. Dykes openly stated he wants to return to a more traditional air Raid. So you have a new OC with whom Stone (and Pops) have zero relationship and a different offense than Stone thought he'd be playing in. I am assuming Stone has NFL ambitions. If the new offense isn't as productive, being a QB in the 40th ranked offense at a non P5 isn't going to get him far (top 10 as it was under Lashlee, then he'd be on NFL radars even at SMU). Miami offense is going to get him much better visibility and stats. I suspect both he and his dad know this and the relationship with Lashlee means Miami is the only other program they would possibly consider. I think hiring Riley and just banking on name recognition was a bit of a misstep by Dykes.

Seafood shack has been across from annies for years now there are a couple of little places that have come and gone Johnny Jets, Sunshine, Tide Tables is now on the other side of the bridge from annies and killing it as a restaurant. Jewfish is still the spot and that channel still eats on the outgoing tide, mackerel, tarpon, trout, gags etc.

Any chance Taylor pops earlier than anticipated just to keep the train rolling? We are what 2 weeks out from his date?

Yup, I'm still shook by the Brockermeyer twins choosing Bama over Texas, it's literally the equivalent of a Chickillo choosing UF over Miami.

2020 has been the craziest recruiting cycle I can remember. The Earth's magnetic field must be completely inverted lol.

Have you SEEN our return game the last few years?
They're not. The fact that he can be a return specialist is an added benefit that may push him over the top if he is compared with an equal talent that can't be one.

Some have said that Curtis has unique skills that translates to WR as well as CB. With him it's going to be about development.

I actually really like Curtis, reminds me of Travis Benjamin. I just think it's hard to say no to a guy like Marshall if it came to an ultimatum. I'd rather take a guy who's well developed in terms of every-down skills and figure out the kick/punt return side once the roster is in place.

Dude, books are SUPER expensive these days. I agree with you, some classes have moved away from "traditional" hardcover textbooks, but a lot of the football players are in the B-School and business textbooks are not cheap.

But, yes, if it's a COVID-19 online course, that's probably not as big of a deal. I will be happy to see the current trend continue to take hold, so that we can see fewer hardcover texts in the future. Those **** hardcovers, every time they print a "new edition", they destroy the "used textbook" market.

Who needs a "new edition" on an accounting textbook?

my son just graduated from the business school. he had a grand total of 3 books for the year. He just said virtually everything is power points, or online sites you subscribe to to do homework, etc. I think science majors are more likely to have books and those are pricey. I don't know if the athletic department uses the rental services but they are cheap and easy. Point is, that's not a big expense.

I love the Divine 9, and I was being a bit sarcastic, but it wouldn't be a horrible thing to see more "integration" in the larger social fraternities. Jimmy Johnson frowned on it, in general (fraternity membership), but it was more common back in the day. Ted Hendricks and Rick Barry are my alumni brothers.
I feel you. There is a lack of that.

I’m sure law school will still find a way to **** students. I had two or three different classes where the only book for the subject just happened to be written by the professor.

Also, congrats to both you and your son.

Thank you. He's going back in two weeks for one more semester to finish his MACC degree. lol my daughter also graduated from UM. Her first bio professor freshman year made them purchase HIS book for $250 . I think that's the last book either of my kids actually purchased. What did we know back then?

I doubt Marshall's making an ultimatum. It's not an either/or situation. CB is a position of need. We can take both.

Dropping kids that have been loyal and doing what they need to get enrolled just sets a bad precedent . I don't think we want to go down that path. I'm certain it'll be used against us in recruiting. As well as things have been going with this class we shouldn't unnecessarily introduce any bad karma and jinx things.

(Yes, I'm superstitious about these things.)

Ivins mentions another angle in his recent podcast which is the fact that one or two kids might look elsewhere on their own, simply based on the level of depth and competition ..... He did not mention any names but if this happens, it is a way better process than pushing kids out. I don't see Manny pushing people out anyway.

Manny pushed out kids before
