Leonard Taylor committing 8/6

I believe there's something called a "replacement scholarship" - I didn't look it up and I honestly cannot remember all the specifics but I wonder if maybe there's something with this from that RB transfer we took that left two minutes later?

Where's the CIS NCAA rules expert?

Can you point the rules out to me as I obviously did not know them? Also I did not anticipate any. He wouldn’t need the scholarship, only the benefits of being a collegiate athlete such as tutoring and stipend. Thanks.

Once an athlete gets a scholarship in another "equivalency" sport, he cannot play a sport such as football or basketball for 2 or 3 years WITHOUT BECOMING an IC.

So, you can't put a kid on a baseball scholarship, then play him in football, otherwise he counts as a football IC.

Translated: Jimmy Graham (hoops to football) is OK. Track-star (?) Jabari Ishmael to football before his third year at UM? Not OK.

There is a mid-year GRADUATION replacement exception.

However, we need to let the Asa Martin IC issue die. He stayed for an entire semester (even if he quit on football quicker). ****, LSU tried to appeal to get an IC back on a kid who only enrolled at LSU for TWO WEEKS and they were DENIED.

Im kidding trust me i know the ncaa would come right after us. **** im sure after last night they got someone hiding in the bushes outside Mannys office

All good, my man. I knew you probably knew the rules, so the response was more intended for all the other guys who have proposed the same exact "brilliant loophole".

Just give the father a promotion and $100k raise. It is really not that complicated.

@Canes2082

See?

There’s ways around things lol, they think they can get the full twenty five , there’s not many options of making that work. It’s just spitballing on how. Unless they know of a change coming by the NCAA.

It should be common sense that Miami is going to try like **** to get to the full 25 freshman scholarship athletes in this cycle. Miami's current class + targets remaining should tell most fans that.

There is a numbers problem, but those things just always work themselves out. Miami won't be turning away top players on their board that want to come here. We don't know about any of these players academic situations right now either. There might be some that we are not fully aware of yet that might still be struggling to get qualified. idk, but I'd wager we have 25 commitments by the February signing day (most of them signing in November) and then we just figure it out before the summer.

If you are trying to come at me about a brilliant loophole and not knowing how things work, please find someone else. As long as he is being paid FMV (i.e. not paying an assistant strength coach $500k), good luck proving anything, especially if you give a promotion to go along with it. He is an existing employee, he is not being hired new by the school, and as long as you set up the right documentation (i.e. compensation studies and comparisons to similar level employees at other schools, compared to other employees of a similar band at the school, etc.), there will be zero issue.

I have spent my career doing tax consulting for tax exempts, which includes a number of universities and athletic associations. The hoops that 501c3s need to go through to establish fair market value for compensation on an annual basis to avoid questions of private inurement/benefit and an IRS investigation is absurd. I will defer to you on IC and scholarship counter rules, but you can find someone else to talk down to about this being some big deal or suspect red flag for the NCAA.

One obvious answer I mentioned , other than that it’s all about who wants in. If the staff thinks they can get 25 , losing Collins gets us 6-7 more spots. I believe we’re at 19 now but that’s only a technicality.
Makes me wonder why Borregales did an interview suddenly talking about UNC

Lmao no. Andres will be our only scholarship kicker next year. You think hes being pushed out? Lol.

You really think Manny wants to go another season with **** kicking?
C'mon, dude. He's probably the safest person in the class, but with the way this class is trending, I wouldn't be surprised if he and several other people were told to make contingency plans.
