It's been official for over a week at this point. Theyve just been waiting for the nfl season to end. He will complete control over the football program and all decisions regarding football will go through him not flake anymore. Manny will report directly to highsmith. Any staff move will be made with highsmiths approval only so no more enos or stubbledick hires with him in charge
First order of business: Fire Manny.

I honestly don't much about Highsmith's success after his playing days, but if his resume is something we all covet - then call me when he's hired and has full autonomy over the football program.

Not getting my hopes up until he's here and delivering on the field results.

This would be the best thing to happen to Miami football in a very long time. A competent leader with legit expectations. And Alonzo has been around every good program in America for years. He knows what it looks like. He also gives the program credibility with the south Florida football community that we desperately lack. The significance of this can’t be overstated. It’s a huge deal.

It’s a step in the right direction for sure, but there’s still huge issues with our recruiting and just the overall culture of our program. Hiring highsmith is not going to solve the problem of our team going through the motions once we lose a game to UF or FSU and going on multiple game losing streaks for example

If you heard Blake on the radio today trying to explain what type of offense he wants, you know this clown knows absolutely nothing about football.

Get him in an empty title role and back to the ticket office, and let Alonzo do his thing.

I say Alonzo be honorary captain and go out to midfield for the coin toss in our first game next season...

Probably more about finances. It costs a lot to keep buying out contracts when chit goes south.

The Board is sick and **** tired of Buyouts. It’s not that they can’t afford it; many of them are billionaires.

When you have to do a buyout to unload a coach it’s a sign than your AD, who you’re paying a substantial amount of money, did not do his due diligence during the Coaching Search.

Business People don’t like to have to pay for someone else’s laziness.

If this happen would Alonzo have anyone that he would want as OC? You would think that would have to be his first hire and it would have to be someone they could get hired rather quickly

This may have already been in works and Manny consulting with him behind scenes. Recall Manny talked with some "NFL" guys about OC position.

It's fantastic that it isn't just a token alum to satisfy the masses hire. It's a guy with 8 years of working in NFL front offices evaluating personnel and being surrounded by NFL leaders AND someone who played and loves it here.

At the bare minimum, it's a much better person to be in charge and run the football department than Blake James.
