I guess you could maybe move Searles up to the "solid" category.

I still want to see him land an elite T prospect.

Yeah bc those grow on trees. Probably less than a half-dozen true freshman every year start at LT at the P5 level and most only do bc they have to, not bc they should.

He's had two and a half cycles to get one.

What do you consider elite? 5-Star only? How many of those have there even benj?

Leatherwood was a good example.

Searles has landed one 4 star tackle in two and a half cycles and he was a low 4 star in Herbert.

Donaldson was also a tackle.

I love how he's the man from December through August but during the season most of y'all want him replaced. Don't get me wrong I love the guy. Dude recruits his butt off. Just like the ones that are on Rumph. He's the exact opposite kills it during the season. Then gets hammered December through August for his recruiting. When the truth lies somewhere in the middle for both of them.
How does Rumph kill it during the season?
by allowing Virginia, Pitt, Clemson, and Wisconsin QB's to look like Tom Brady against us?

Scaife could play OT, but we likely won’t play him there. Composite is .9378, 247 is 91. Campbell is .8804, 247 is 86.

2017
Herbert was .9065 and 86. Hillery was .8685 and 91.

So between the 2 2017 kids, one was a 4-Star Composite and the other was a 4-Star by 247.

Donaldson was an elite get. Was listed as an OT, we all thought he would be there originally. And the coaches appear to want him there now but know he needs to keep dropping weight, which he will.

So to me if Donaldson plays OT then that’s his elite guy. He was .9655 and 95.

Also, not every elite prospect is ready to play in Year 1. Hillery already was scout team player of the year as an OT, which is extremely impressive. I won’t be surprised in the least if he ends up as one of the best 5 OL.

Well he's taking kids that everybody thought was trash or cast off and turn them into draft eligible players. Texas did not want Coburn anymore he was a part time player at best there.Did you really see Michael Jackson turn into that kind of playe he has become. Carter and Jenkins became way better last year. Not to mention what he did the year before last with just a makeshift secondary. Come on you guys got to give credit where credit's due.

Lol @ counting half a cycle against a coach who arrived a month before NSD 2016.

These are the posts where you reveal yourself. Be better.

Searles listed as mediocre is trolling. Plain old trolling.

It's actually not.

In my opinion it is. Anybody who lands Herbert, Scaife, Reed, & Donaldon in 2 years is better then mediocre. Simple as that.

What’s funny is Pete is saying Hillery is ahead of Herbert at this point. Hillery was scout POY over Herbert and others.

Part of recruiting is evaluating as well. If you fill the position with top notch players, you’re doing your job.

Hillery might have been Scout team OPOY, but Herbert was listed as 2nd on the depth chart at LT all year. Had McDermott gotten hurt, he might have had his redshirt burned.

So maybe Herbert wasn't even paying as much scout team, because he was on the 2nd string unit.

Do the coaches have meetings on how one coach is doing better than the other in recruiting?

Lol do the coaches have a meeting to see who is best at recruiting.. Lol does your job have a meeting and they power rank who is the best to the least employee.. Come on some of yall act like yall have never worked in a organization before. Comedy hour

Colbert was a part time player here until an injury put him in the starting line up. Now, he played fairly well when given the opportunity but as a 5th year senior...I'd say Rumph's influence was minor.
Michael Jackson played well at times this season but was inconsistent enough that he is coming back.
Carter and Jenkins were seniors.

Not trying to bag, but when I watch our secondary I really see poor coaching. No press when we press, DB's not turning to find the ball, lots of knee diving with your head down instead of tackling, playing inside technique with no help in the middle. That is all poor technique as a result of poor coaching.

I see that shi* every game, including Bama, Clemson, UGA, OSU games, etc. That's called kids being kids. Our pass efficency defense was insane until we wore out in the final stretch. We still finished 18th, which is **** good, considering we played 5 CBs on the roster. Young and Jackson were also among the best in the country in terms of defensive efficiency against the pass.

This board just loves to shi* on its own team. Why would any kid want to come here and be subjected to this nonsense? Every other team in the top 10 in recruiting are creaming about their prospects. We're ranked 6th, and the fans here do nothing but troll and complain.

True about Herbert. But Hillery also suffered a fairly major foot injury, which led to the coaches deciding to redshirt him basically right away.
