Funny how perceptions change around here.

A year ago at this time - "Beard is indispensable". "he's legendary in broward". "He's a monster recruiter". "Kids love him!"

Now, it's "he's a weird dude". "He's not a good recruiter". "We can get better".
He was never an elite recruiter, Idc if HS wrs like him. Do they give him a verbal commitment is more important to me. He can teach but that's half the job, if we went into work half the week and took off the other half we would get replaced. This is one coach I wanted replaced after the JJ loss. Sh we wanted Rumph out (day 1 for me after I saw an interview) as soon as he lost Tyson and Surtain, those types of whiffs should be fireable offenses. We all know the HC isn't getting fired so the position guys have to recruit elite at their positions.....especially generational players in our backyard. But Mario is also responsible for those whiffs cause he's the closer so he gets blame as well.

Scrolling to see if I porsted in here slurping a position coach without results. I have plenty of porsts but this thread I am clear from all porsts. I was skeptical of the recruiting impact he would have, and he has had none at the level I want as a cane fan. But that's just me

Beard is not the reason we didn’t get JJ.

I don't think Beard is irreplaceable by any means, I get it.…But outside of the Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams, and a few others all these frosh WR would have been sitting at UM just like JoJo Trader was this season. We had one of the best offenses, best passing offenses, and WR rooms in America on the field this season.
Right.

Now explain why we're still brining in Portal WR's & desperate to find more for the Spring?

We had one of the best passing Offenses in America because we had the best QB in America, paired with a very good OC.

How many of those WR's were recruited by Beard?

Restrepo & JGeorge were Rob Likens evals/signings, even Horton was a Likens recruit.

Beard has signed the 24 & 25 class, which most of whom are still at least 1-2 years away from being ready to play.

Now put that in contrast to all the TF/Red FR & Sophomore WR's around the country who are already playing at a high level & you have your answer.

Beard has done well by Miami fan standards, which are always going to be bare minimum & the fact he's a former Cane completely skews people's ability to accurately access the job he's actually done. But in reality, he missed top targets in both his classes back to back & the HC feels like he’s not doing his job up to Championship standards. Hence why he's letting him walk.

One thing that should always be kept in mind, just being "good enough", isn't actually the goal. The goal is GREATNESS. That's how you win Championships.
