Kevin Beard

Syracuse
So if Beard leaves, what are we going to go with a Dawson connection or someone entirely separate. If so Lonnie Galloway from UNC makes sense still. Idk if Belichick is keeping him, but I guess so? UNC has had some good speed WRs come through under him.

Otherwise Maybe we take Colorados WR coach along with their DLine coach - Jason Phillips.

What if we go with someone that could maybe step up to be OC assuming Dawson leaves after this year?

- Chad Morris (Currently WR/PGC at Texas St, think we could beat that)
- Neal Brown (IDK what he's doing after being let go for Rich Rod at WVU)
- Kevin Johns (QB Coach at OKst)
- Kevin Sumlin ( AHC, CoOC, TE at Maryland, this seems maybe expensive and maybe not worth it?)

Not neccessarily WR coach exp, but lots of OC exp and I'm sure could do it a year:
- Warren Ruggiero (usually a QB coach but was OC at Wake for like a decade, and now idk what hes doing since ****ert got the HC job), Kevin Sumlin
- Christian Taylor (was the OC at William and Mary when they had high powered offenses. Now in NFL as QC coach.).
Galloway was someone i thought should be considered before we got beard

I guess I’m slightly confused by the reaction to this. It feels like he’s done a spectacular job and we had one of the best WR rooms in America, when on paper it was looking rough. I would love to hold onto Beard, personally.
How many of those WR's were recruited by Beard?

Restrepo & JGeorge were Rob Likens evals/signings, even Horton was a Likens recruit.

Beard has signed the 24 & 25 class, which most of whom are still at least 1-2 years away from being ready to play.

Now put that in contrast to all the TF/Red FR & Sophomore WR's around the country who are already playing at a high level & you have your answer.

Beard has done well by Miami fan standards, which are always going to be bare minimum & the fact he's a former Cane completely skews people's ability to accurately assess the job he's actually done. But in reality, he missed top targets in both his classes back to back & the HC feels like he’s not doing his job up to Championship standards. Hence why he's letting him walk.

One thing that should always be kept in mind, just being "good enough", isn't actually the goal. The goal is GREATNESS. That's how you win Championships.

Only driven through the county, never stayed overnight, so I don't know much about the area. But I do know a couple of people who live there, one of them who grew up in Maryland and Massachusetts, and he likes the area. But it's Florida, and if it's nice and quiet with lots of open spaces, it won't be for long.
There's a ton of land up there... It'll be a while before it gets filled but yea, can't stop progress....
I stay up there every few months when I visit.... I dig it... Got a lot of farms that butcher their own stock .. can get some really good steaks to take home and cook...

I don't think Beard is irreplaceable by any means, I get it.…But outside of the Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams, and a few others all these frosh WR would have been sitting at UM just like JoJo Trader was this season. We had one of the best offenses, best passing offenses, and WR rooms in America on the field this season.

Funny how perceptions change around here.

A year ago at this time - "Beard is indispensable". "he's legendary in broward". "He's a monster recruiter". "Kids love him!"

Now, it's "he's a weird dude". "He's not a good recruiter". "We can get better".
The typical CanesInsight coping mechanism. It's why you never should fall in love with a position coach, cause most are always testing the waters

Mario could also do the funniest thing ever. Go get David Doeker, UF’s assistant WR coaches, who florida fans think higher than Billy Gonzales of.

He just married Katie Turner, the girl who was yelling at our players from visiting the UF recruiting section after we won. Mario brings her in too as a package deal as she’s excellent at setting up recruiting visits and on campus engagement.
****...at this point he should just steal Napier from the Gators to coach WRs, they did work together at Bama...
