Simply put, college football just seems hollow and lifeless anymore. I'm hanging on by a thread, don't give much if a fxxx about recruiting, portal, wins, losses, etc. It's a habit at this point to check in or watch a game.

This season, I'd say I watched a combined 5 games total (bits and pieces of maybe 10 or 15 games) outside of ours. Years prior, I used to love tuning in Thursday, Friday, Saturday, etc. The transfer situation makes teams unrecognizable. Players in good positions, you find out they split, think WTF, and then oh money.

I'm not mad at them, make your money. Players, not all, but a lot of them could give two ***** about what team they play for. It's all about the paycheck. Sometimes it's about a lack of patience, going somewhere rather than waiting their turn as well.

Obviously some of it has to do with life being far busier with kids active year round in sports all but a month and a half, but still. These young people don't care about the jersey they put on so why as a fan of somethjng should we care about them? Better yet, why should we give our money to support them? **** makes no sense to me anymore.

So yes, I'd say f'em. He's an amazing talent, but now you'd want to come here if we paid through the nose? What happens after the season, I'd bet the bidding opens back up. I'm not down with that stuff. It's not my money, never will be, so what's it matter? This principal and one reason I'd hate to be a coach today.

They might be (just reading this board), but I’m thinking the principle is the same.

I noticed you said start at 2 million and go up until he doesn’t say no? I think you have to go in with an offer so strong right off the bat that it brings immediate pause.

If you offer 2 mil, he’ll simply go back to OSU and say here’s UM’s offer and they will match or exceed it. And it will go back and forth.

If there is any opportunity (and I’m not sure there is), you have to start with likely your best offer. Whatever those numbers are… You can’t nibble in incremental amounts. Its going to have to be something that everyone stops and takes notice.

Considering he was paid $1M last year starting at $2M is quite a jump. If he doesn't bite then offer $3M and so on until you're at a number that he can't refuse or when UM can't cough up any more cash.

So I guess the Bengals should have never signed J-Chase considering he's getting "All that money and one play away from not being able to suit up due to injury."

I get the sentiment but it's dumb thing to get hung up on. It's not your money and the same thing is true throughout all sports. You can say the same thing about any professional athlete in the NFL, NBA, MLB, Premier League, etc.

Sure the risk is higher in a contact sport like football but the point stands.

Would it make it better if it was 1998 and the statement was "All that time spent recruiting and developing a player and one play away from not being able to suit up due to injury?"
