It will never be Mullen.

He may be a fine playcaller, but I'm not sure why people can acknowledge that "coaching chemistry" was a major problem this year, and then advocate for a coach who would be an egotistical and problematic addition to a coaching staff, particularly in a lesser role when he envisions himself as a head coach.

And save the "but he would only be here for a year, he'd kill it and then move on" nonsense.

Mullen has been at this coaching thing a LONG time. I would imagine, that if his goal is to eventually become a HC at a major program again, and if he cant do that from his current situation, then he would be professional enough to go to a situation like Miami, do what he does best (be an offensive genius), and rehab his career.

Kinda hard to announce a hiring for an offensive coordinator when someone else’s name is still on the office door.
True but...

Even if Gatis has a time element in his contract (saves us 1.8mm if he leaves, or is fired after a certain date you could hire the new oc as an analyst OR "unpaid volunteer" immediately UNLESS that person is still in the nfl playoff hunt and/or under a contract that includes a meaningful time element.

Seems so simple and easy, huh?
Every team that wants rid of a coordinator: Coach X has been relieved of his duties and we thank him for his time at University Y.

Miami: Well actually, we put a clause in Gattis's contract that means he gets to sue us if we fire him/we gave him too much money and now we can't fire the statistically worst OC in school history without someone else giving him a job first pls pls pls someone hire our trash OC

That ************ blew TWO interviews at UM with his arrogance and ****iness. I'm not sure why you think a 50 year old man is suddenly going to act humble and professional, but if you want to believe in unicorns and rainbows, that's up to you.

And I'm not trying to bust your chops, you are free to respect the man's playcalling and whatnot. He's just not going to fit into anyone's coaching staff in a subservient role unless it was Saban. Saban has enough power and security to put up with (and control) toxic pricks like Kiffin and Mullen because they know how to call plays.

Wrong again.

Stop guessing and flailing. It will be over when all issues are addressed properly.

If Mullens, for example, has a contract that he gets paid for x number of years from the gaytuhs, but any payment for coaching is deducted from the amount the gaytuh owe him, UM could pay him $350k as the passing game coordinator. That would preclude several companies like LifeWallet paying him for his marketing value.

Joke:
Then we could name DVD as OC!

OR

We can pay a great WR a bit more to be officially called the OC/WR coach.

Coverups can be infectious...

I think Poggi was smart to GTFO of Ann Arbor...
He has known Harbaugh for a long time and I don't think what Harbaugh is doing is any different than Harbaugh has always done; pretty sure the main driver for leaving was that he wanted to be a head coach and was finally given the opportunity:

A few days before Michigan won the Big Ten title game, Poggi got serious consideration from UConn to be its head coach. Jim Mora got the job. Poggi would be lying if he said he wouldn’t love a crack at being a college head coach; he loves projects, and there are certainly some programs that need fixing. One of his proteges, Macdonald, said Poggi’s age and experience might elicit skepticism, but “for some creative athletic director who is willing to think outside the box, it’d be a **** of an investment.”

You’ve got to think potential recruits, transfers and the tons of people around them have the low down on Gattis’s situation.
Reporters either are too lazy to get the info or have been told by Mario they’ll be persona non grata big time at Hecht If they do.
