Either Mario hasn’t had his coming to Jesus moment or he’s facing an uphill battle with getting rid of Gattis.

Amazes me that he’s so focused on recruiting and can’t get rid of the dude that’s hurting it the most (allegedly).

The problem is if he can’t get elite receivers pretty soon then he’s gonna lose any traction with elite qb’s.

Especially if we don’t hire a good QB coach. Also, a lot of the good young QB coaches might not want to run what goddess is running.

I’ve had contacts give me info that didn’t turn out to be true.

I’m not trying to call out any poster, all I’m saying is that, we should all think objectively and try to deduce fact vs. fiction in this game of “telephone” info sharing

Meaning I’m with you and not believing this contract snag with Gattis has anything to do with his Michigan contract
Yeah, unless someone can provide details and explanations, I’m pretty skeptical when it seems illogical.

If this is true, it’s idiotic on Miamis part And I don’t get it. We supposedly double his salary from 900k to 1.8 million and we pay him even more on behalf of Michigan? I have never seen an arrangement like that before.

When you strike out on your other choices that’s what happens….Mario’s Rolodex and the concept we can hire nearly anyone we want appears to be a farce…

I'd say my guy is close to the program...Lol
@Cribby would vouch for that. So would @RVACane

That’s an epic failure by Mario…absolutely ridiculous
Agree. Mario makes $8M per year. It's a ridiculous amount of money in general. I obviously dont know the full or even half the story here but if buyout money is the issue, then honestly Mario should offer to give up $500k-1M this year (from his $8M salary) to help eat the Gattis loss that he created. I'm sure some will disagree but that would show real accountability and leadership. If Mario lets money drag this out or ruin this, its 1000% on him and i will lose faith that he's the guy.

Thanks for the response. Easy to write checks with money that isn't mine so while I'd love to say just bite the bullet and move on from Gattis, I can see the other side of the argument. If his salary this year is $1.8 million and we're paying let's say $500k of the Michigan salary that's $2.3 million tied up in this clown. Hire Ruggiero at $1.5 - $2.0 million and you're looking at upwards of $4.0 million deep into your OC for 2023. Not chump change.
Yeah...I'm sure the University isn't thrilled this dude had to fired after one year and that amount of money tied to it. Someone in there is looking at Mario like....man do better next time lol

@DMoney had indicated previously the timeline was the end of this week. Has that changed at all?

Yes. Time passes. It is later now than it was when I started this message. It will be even later by the time you read it. Much later by the time Mario gets his head out of his ***…

Lmao, i know we know each other in real life which is crazy since we're from Montana. I'll DM you my name at some point. I need to assess how much dumb **** I've posted on here first though haha.

A lot. You can now share. You’re welcome.

He’s busy trying to get his shoe back from Cormani…been slow walking ever since…

I’m not questioning you or your source.

Maybe someone from Gattis camp leaked the false info, I don’t know.

There are at least a dozen points I could make to blow major holes in this hypothetical scenario….

But it’s not worth either of our time to go back and forth on something that we have very little fact on

I’m a Mario supporter but how he got this so wrong still baffles me. As soon as he was hired, there were several people on these boards saying that Broyles award was a joke, and Gattis wasn’t really the driving force behind Michigan’s offense. It was also noted that he was known to have ego issues and was stubborn. And not long after he got to Miami, the same people were saying that it was pretty clear his offense was not suited to the players we had. If all of that was apparent by people not even on the staff, how did the head guy charge ahead with what clearly was a bad fit off rip.

Two words for the AD and budget hawks: sunk cost.
We took a risk hiring Gattis, he took a risk leaving a good spot. It didn't work out, pay the man, lick your wounds, and move on. If you think about it, $1.8M is not material relative to the overall investment in the program (Mario, staff, facilities, etc) or the enormous upside of rebuilding a juggernaut.
