I posted that Briles and Pittman weren’t seeing eye to eye in mid to late October and that he wouldn’t be back next year. Genuinely shocked that he’s not already Miami’s OC considering he was there for the taking and Mario was talking with him about the job last year.

But what I keep reminding myself is of the other candidates in the initial group. I was generally pleased with the group in aggregate

Plus knowing that Gattis was a last tier option

Even if Mario wanted Briles and Briles wanted to come it would be a serious challenge to get the hiring through without being vetoed. Hiring Briles would pose a non-negligible risk to the brand.

We almost hired him last year. National reporters were saying we had done interviews and Briles got butthurt about it getting out.
