In the last few weeks I haven’t seen many, if any, absolving Mario on his seemingly indecisiveness concerning his OC. Every day that goes by without an answer, the heat in the kitchen gets considerably warmer.

Most of the comments I’ve seen are people trying to understand why a decision hasn’t yet been made one way or the other. Many of these comments can be construed in as many different ways as there are posts. Some seem speculative. Some seem born of conjecture. And many are just out of frustration.

To suggest that “all”, or even “most” are absolving Mario in this situation is disingenuous at best. IMHO, most of us are becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of movement one way or another. All any of us can do is wait for the HC to FINALLY make a decision.
Reread my comment & show where I said that?

You misinterpreted, my comment was not about fans, it was about the Coaches on staff being absolved by MC.

A prevailing theory that many, including myself believe, is that Mario is waiting to finalize a deal with the OC before firing Gattis. If that is accurate, then the OC is unlikely Arroyo or Ponce. If either was the OC, the deal would be done and announced. Therefore, Mario must still be searching for an OC, which is an even scarier thought because he appears to be striking out again.

Either scenario is not ideal.

I hope I’m wrong.

Who are some realistic names that would appease the mob? I'm sure they've been mentioned but other than Riley and Mullet I've been too busy ****-posting and de-railing to notice anyone else mentioned.

I think he would go NFL. I could see a guy like Brian Johnson, who coached under Whittingham and Mullen. And now having a **** of a season with Hurts and the Eagles.

Mixed results as an OC but has a pedigree and recruited a bunch of Miami guys (Marshall, Collier).

Can someone articulate what type of offense they’d actually like to see?

We’re not going full air raid and rightfully so, football is and always will be a line of scrimmage game. At the same time the geometry of the college game gives the offense an advantage.

What’s the sweet spot?

What if:

Nobody wants to work for Mario?

Look at what happened to Gattis? He was being considered for P5 head coaching jobs last year and now he's at risk of getting fired. Has a Broyles award winner ever failed that fast?

We already know he didn't get his first choice at DC or OC last year.

What if he literally can't get a better OC than Gattis?

There's all kinds of narratives out there about him.

He micromanages.
He's demanding, especially in recruiting.
He meddles with the offense.
He wants to hire his whole staff and not let the coordinates hire/fire.

What if those narratives are keeping even more people away this year than they did last year?

Todd monkey does a great job blending his preferred style with a smash mouth style of football. Obviously they’ve recruited elite talent, but the mixture he’s been able to do is impressive.

This. And it took a few years for that offense to actually mesh. Darnell Washington is an incredible chess piece. Would be great to see him end up in Kansas City to see how he can be unleashed

The thing about Ponce returning is that means we are getting another WR/OC combo...just doesn't seem most probably. Most OCs are QB coaches
Not necessarily. Ponce has coached other positions before… IIRC. Besides word is that he’s gone anyways.
