It’s make or break time for Mario. Can he attract a staff that can work together and build a winging team in todays college football. Not just a staff with big names.

We’ve heard a couple names that are “done” on the staff, but no announcements. If he’s doubling down on all his year one hires, it’s either genius or suicide

FWIW Navarro said in his podcast that he expects some changes on the coaching staff (Duh)

Patience, patience, patience (his words)

Gave Gattis a 35% probability of being retained and also said that he heard from the TVD camp that he’s staying because he got reassured that next year's offense will be different.

Nothing groundbreaking, lots of hedging but better than nothing IMHO.

Never mind the fact that this doesn't support the "he's staying" hypothesis. If we know anything about Gattis, it's that he wants to do things his way.

What does that even mean? He'll either be retained or he won't. How did he come up with "35% probability?"

I'd just say this.

I'm fine with guys getting ****ed off from Days 60-90.

But crying like a little baby from Day 1 onward is not a good look, it's just not what you expect out of grown-*** adults.

But when was Day 1?

For some, that was Southern Miss, others A&M…others MTSU…. Etc etc…

Anyone that Day 1 wasn’t on or before the Virginia game may have CTE concerns…

Cut the crap.

Day 1 was November 27th. Everything else is in-season-whining.

Short of major personality conflicts, nobody fires a coordinator in-season because you are "losing games", particularly when the #1 QB, a major returning RB, a major returning WR, and half of the OL is injured.

UM enrollment starts on January 17th. Portal ENTRY closes on January 18th. The last day for UM enrollment is January 25th. AT MOST, we will get 2 HS/JC kids on February 1st, and at most one will be a WR.

Given the calendar, the coaching convention, and the coaching-change domino effect now that the college season is over, If anyone is still angry that Gattis has not moved on by January 25th, I won't say a single thing when they complain about it on this board.

He thinks he gets to decide when its ok to complain. Very much a female quality.

Ive asked him 200 times to name what makes mario a great head coach. Ive given him recruiting. All he van say is he won 12 at oregon. Well thats great but he won 5 at miami against a pop warner schedule.

If you lose to mtsu with 4 star talent you arent a good coach and should be questioned.

If told him i hope mario is successful and that mario is a all star recruiter. But because im not munching on marios **** he has a problem with it.

so realistically anytime we need a coaching change (not a new hire but a firing), we have to wait until jan 25th lol? doesnt it sound a bit ridiculous?

hes heard changes but like everyone else, they expected it to happen earlier (at least the formal firing). i also heard mario say that **** run what TVD likes preseason and we all saw what that means

There are plenty of arguments to be made for it taking so long. Giving him time to find a landing spot, working behind the scenes for a new guy.

It sucks to be on this side of it waiting, but if he comes back with a home run, it'll be worth it.

while i agree, we know that isnt the case from history w mario. we thought the same last year but in the end he was turned down by others

same thing we all said last year (I was one of them)..

still believe it'll be worth it but he needs to hit a home run and not another "home run" on paper...

Yup, but if he had hit on Dorsey, how awesome would that have been? Can't hit a home run if you don't swing.

The simple fact is there's no amount of *****ing that we can do that will change it, we just gotta wait and see.

I don't think it will be worth it no matter who we sign. We essentially punted an entire recruiting window and transfer portal window. A competent OC/WR coach lands us at least 1 WR.

So back to the in-season Day 1, sounds like we’ve met the burden of “major personality conflicts” with conflicts between Ponce and Gattis, Gattis and TVD…
