His internship was at UM from 98-2000 as a GA.....At Bama, he was a full fledged Coach.
I'm aware. I should have put internship in quotes. It was a time where most felt Mario had direct exposure to the inner workings of a dominant football program. Saban was never beholden to his coordinators or hired his buddies. He would axe them after a year if he needed to. Mario apparently did not learn from this.

I do, because I am a fan. I can't blame any WR1 that crossed us off. Nobody could.
And as a fan you should want Mario continuing to grow and learn from past mistakes and prioritize that over manufactured suspense. This off-season, to this point, he has shown zero evidence of that.

You would be equally enthralled if he showed decisiveness in announcing whatever staff departures with the anticipation and "suspense" of who will follow. We have a long way to go before spring ball, but IMO, Mario had to turn the page from the offensive train wreck of last year, get control of the narrative that he is stuck in the past schematically, and give WR recruits concrete evidence that he is installing an offense they want to be a part of.

You're preaching to the choir. I wanted Gattis gone a long time ago, way before the season ended. We are on the same page.

The focus is the portal right now. Gattis wasn’t hired until like mid February this year. Mario takes his time with hiring and will so even more here after missing so poorly on Gattis. Might even have informed him to find a new job to save the buyout money and Gattis reputation. NFL season concludes in less than two weeks opening new doors of candidates
Mario is a ******* idiot.

He’s probably not gonna fire Gattis.

And second, his “slow” process is extremely detrimental. A bunch of programs are looking for OCs and we’ll be left with scraps by the time Mario does anything, if he does anything at all.

If you said the recruiting class maybe, we did well there but the portal has been less then spectacular considering the amount of pieces we're missing, so don't think the focus is there.

I do agree with you that Mario’s focus has been recruiting. Coaching staff changes are moving up the list

1. I have to keep reminding folks that Gattis was a plan F or G hire, and that’s why it seemed timing “was so slow”

2. I don’t have a definitive reason why Mario hasn’t fired Gattis yet, but I do know that it’s not to save on buyout money when Gattis signed a 2yr contract

You can never rule out an nfl hire, but with as much emphasis as Mario puts on recruiting I’d be mildly surprised if that’s the route he goes knowing that recruiting is a 24/7 job and relationships are established over time, so grabbing an nfl guy woukdnt gave that per se

You are right, the current #10 portal class to go with the #4 recruiting class. Less than spectacular..........

As of right now our Rb depth chart is worse or the same at best, still no outside Wr, we also are worse on the Dline and the secondary is worse. To say we are focusing on the portal and not coaching changes and that's what we have is tough. Idk maybe I'm having flashbacks of us striking out at WR last year. Combination of that and no OC changes yet has me worried though.

Why would anyone of our opponents be happy when O'Brien is the new OC?

Dude installed about 80% of the passing concepts that made New England an offensive juggernaut from 2010-2018.
It’ll be better than what we’ve seen this past year, no doubt. I trust O’Brien as a OC. Now, he won’t have Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Welker, and others, so will we have the same results, probably not.

But Belicheck is better than everyone else so we’ll always be good for 8-9 wins a year because of our defense and special teams.

Just wish someone knew how to draft WRs in that organization 😂

2010. Thats all I need to say. Created a juggernaut surrounding two rookie TEs and made Bill trade for Deion Branch.

We’ll if we’re bringing back O’Brien, might as well convince Tom to do a farewell tour in New England, Gronk to come out of retirement, and maybe they’ll let Hernandez out on good time.

Im a die hard Canes fan, as are most on this site, but if Gattis coaches offense next year I likely won’t watch any games. I only watch 4-5 this year.
Thats where im like, mario cant be this tone def. Ticket sales will TANK if he rides in with gattis next season. Actual attendance will be even worse, than this embarrassing season.
