That's fair, I think one thing that drew MC to Gattis was the Moorhead connection.
I agree but my problem is I don’t like Moorhead as an OC. He blew up at Penn State but look at who he had to work with. Trace McSorley NFL QB, Saquan Barkley one of the best college RB’s in recent history and Chris Godwin on the outside, great NFL WR.

That team was stacked! Any halfway decent OC can put up numbers with that group. Oregons offense was a mess in 2020 and average in 2021.

Mario needs to get tf away from that tree lol the **** is dying and is about fall over lol

One thing Mario is doing, and doing well, is keeping the suspense going.

Like a bunch of yoyo's, we are here, discussing Gattis, the albino elephant (in the room), that Mario absolutely notices.

It's very hard to think this plays out well. Last season, we waited, and waited, and waited some more. We watched OC after OC being hired. Then, we got Gattis!

"Mario's timeline" was a ******* disaster. We ended up with Gattis, arguably the worst, and most controversial UM coach I have experienced in about 35 years of being a fan.

This entire scene reeks of heel diggin' Golden and the D'Ono show.

Now I hope I am wrong, truly do, but I don't know man. This whole situation is suspect.

That’s why I judge a coach on what they do at different schools with different levels of talent

That’s why Lashlee and Jedd Fisch were the only decent OCs we’ve had in the last 15yrs

He would have been fired by now imo.

Most coaches hire their OC before the position coaches so the OC can have some input. Rhett pushed for Garin Justice and Rob Likens that’s normal. Hiring a bunch of coaches from different systems and making your OC WR coach and hiring a QB coach that has no familiarity with the OC makes 0 sense.

Kevin Smith- Lane Kiffin tree
Mirabal- Joe Moorehead tree
Ponce- Sattersfield tree
Gattis- Harbough tree

It was obvious there was a disconnect between the staff and players. I would be willing to bet it’s because there was a disconnect between the coaches. Too many chefs in the kitchen that have a million recipes for cooking Mac and cheese and they all think their recipe is the best. At the end of the day, QB and WR position has to be fixed. This Gattis/Ponce experiment needs to end.
You have your trees all wrong lol. Mirabal isn’t from moorehead tree. If anything he is Mario tree and he worked with satterfield at fiu along with other OCs before moorehead. Gattis was actually under franklin

Unless Mario is on a profit sharing plan with CIS, who the **** cares if he is keeping the suspense going? Its not like ESPN is on Gattis watch 24 hours a day, and even if they were, what is that getting him? All this "suspense" did was get every WR1 that signed last week to cross us off their list.

The line was very much a problem under Lashlee but since he’s not a ******, he didn’t base his entire offense around having a dominant offensive line. A good coach will tailor his scheme to work around the players available. Just look at the difference between the 2020 offense with D’Eriq King and the 2021 offense with TVD.

The garbage staff we currently employ don’t understand adjustment. Gattis and Mario want to “pound the rock, bro” even if the personnel says that’s a terrible idea. Then when it inevitably fails, they blame the lack of talent. They had the whole off season to size up the talent they had and devise a scheme best suited to it. If Gattis couldn’t tell this team was weak on the line months before the season started, then he’s garbage and isn’t suited to coach pee wee football.

Side note: after watching every single lineman regress last year, I have very little faith in Mini Mario’s ability to coach linemen. Assuming guys like Rivers, Clark and Cooper are going to be improved is a huge leap of faith for me.

To me, dominant line is a luxury. It’s great to have one and can only help your offense but if you can’t succeed without it, you’re not a very good coach. You’re just Larry Coker.
You señor es en fuego!!!

Leavitt is a good coach though. Gattis is Doritos caliber coach and coordinator. Gattis hurts us with offensive recruits and transfers imo
Leavitt got University of South Florida to a #2 ranking....................he was a great coach.

I do, because I am a fan. I can't blame any WR1 that crossed us off. Nobody could.

The focus is the portal right now. Gattis wasn’t hired until like mid February this year. Mario takes his time with hiring and will so even more here after missing so poorly on Gattis. Might even have informed him to find a new job to save the buyout money and Gattis reputation. NFL season concludes in less than two weeks opening new doors of candidates
