again, no response to my OL comparison. Just more unhinged comments about firing Gattis, what we all agree on.

your comparison is incomplete as you’re literally relying on 2 Freshman we haven’t seen play a college game, Zion who hasn’t played in a year and wasn’t expected to return and a transfer you haven’t named.

It takes years to run the "pro spread" **** Gattis tried to run in September. To make matters worse, after A&M, Miami panicked, changed the core scheme of the offense and went more spread with tempo to ease TVD's transition. Now, we do not have a identity. We are running 2, even 3, different offense's as the season goes on. Beyond incompetent.

Gattis sucks but we can't ignore this falls on Mario.

Gattis sucks for 1,000 different reasons

But having an offense runs plays out of different formations is not one of those reasons

I totally agree this offense didn’t have an identity, but that’s because Gattis randomly called plays. I can’t recall, at any level, seeing an OC with a worse “feel for game flow” when calling plays

Saying the OL might not be better next year is just absurd. Adding Cohen, Samson, FM, a healthy Zion, etc - even the mopiest mope shouldn't doubt OL play will be much improved.

We all want Gattis fired, but this thread is a disaster with people complaining about Mario not improving the roster/recruiting well enough.
get your head out of your ***

I said it would be better

Saying we will be better with two freshmen and a kid that is completely up in the air (Zion) is not a guarantee

So don’t quote my post and give me that nonsense after what we just witnessed last year

You were probably one of the people that talked **** to me for suggesting that TVD would take a step back this year

I see some have reached the “Our new OC hasn’t been named yet because he’s currently in the playoff” portion of our program.

Yikes.
@Go Canes!!

Not you too man? You think Gattis is our OC next year??

I mean if we are going to write down the denial stages, you have a valid one. But let’s do it for both camps

“Gattis will not be fired because Mario hasn’t told CIS when CIS wants to know”

Personally I’m not even banking on the fact that it’s wrapped up and someone in the playoffs. We know Mario is a lunatic when it comes to recruiting and could have been focused on that. Today is the 1st day really after the early signing period is done. He could very well have just started interviewing. I didn’t keep track but if I remember from the coaching carousel thread last year, much of the hiring action was in Jan/Feb after the ESD and holidays.

Have no clue if he’s staying or going and when it’s decided it’s decided.

But people trying to make themselves feel better with this take made me lol.

Just because Gattis returns doesn't mean the offense will stink again, this scheme was always going to take time to learn. Numerous OCs have struggled year 1 to have success the following season, it's what Gattis did at Michigan. I'm not saying we will have a great offense or anything but just because he failed last season doesn't mean he will fail next.

Was it a problem with Lashlee?
Your observation is moot.

Right or wrong, Big Manny doesn't want/believe in Lashlee's style.

He does believe in GERDis.

Therefore, prepare for pain until either Big Manny gets his OL in place (good start last few weeks) or he is fired.

We likely won't know either outcome until 2023/2024.

I seriously doubt Mario is looking at this roster and thinking.. ya know its so much better that I don't need to fire Gattis.

The top 3 QB are the same
The starting WRs and their backups are the same
The RB is room is Parrish, who most believe should a complementary back, an injury prone Chaney, a redshirt freshman who missed the entire season due to injury, and 2 true freshmen
The 3 year starter at TE is gone. We may like Arroyo more than Mallory, but Mario clearly did not

The O-line deserves its own section. Its far more talented. But it'll take time for them to gel.

We're banking on Cohen playing as well next to Clark and a true freshman, as he did next to elite players at Alabama.
From there its the C everyone hates, the former starting LT returning after missing the entire year due to injury, two talented true freshman and Cooper in his first full season as starter.

Anybody gets hurt and we're back to Rivers, McCoy, Seymour or true freshman.

The roster overall is in much better shape moving forward, but its not good enough for Mario to consider bringing Gattis Back as OC. And I don't think he will.

I've had the unmitigated joy of the offenses of my two football teams this season being led by Matt Gattis and Josh Canada.

They're essentially the same on a rudimentary level, imo. When they're not being too conservative on 1st and 2nd down and/or overcommitting to trying to establish the run (major problems in their own right), they do call plays that would've worked for big chunks of yards if not for player error (often QB or WR).

It's then on 3rd down where they establish themselves as bums that can't adapt to failure with incessant draws or passes short of the chains. Inexcusable.

Sooooo....they're not morons. The can* draw up plays that can work with proper execution but they're definitely incomplete coaches....and I now think both will back next season too.
